Did you know that the Common App for Transfer opened August 1 for spring 2027 transfer application into the College of Arts and Sciences, the accelerated BSN program, which starts in June 2027, and fall 2027 application into all our schools of enrollment that accept transfers?
For those of you hoo (see what I did there😉) may be newer here, lets go over again what our schools of enrollment are...
For UVA, you don't apply into a major, you apply into a school of enrollment - College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education and Human Development, School of Architecture, etc. Within our schools of enrollment are where are majors live. If you'd like more information on this structure, or you're more of a visual person👀, like me, check out our previous post here.

Each school of enrollment has their own writing prompt for spring application, Accelerated BSN, and fall applications. We understand that some applicants like to see these prompts and think about them before they start writing, so we wanted to help make that a little bit easier on you. Yes, you'll have to create a Common App account to apply anyway, but just to make things a little easier on some of you, here are the prompts before you create your Common App account. Brainstorm away!🧠⛈️

Spring 2027 Transfer - College of Arts and Sciences:
1) Please provide a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. (4000 character limit)
2) College of Arts & Sciences - How do your possible career or professional plans relate to your planned course of study? (roughly 250 words)
Accelerated BSN - School of Nursing:
1) Please provide a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. (4000 character limit)
2) School of Nursing - Please share with us why you want to be a nurse and how your strengths align with your future career in nursing. (roughly 250 words)
Fall 2027 Transfer:
College of Arts and Sciences:
1) Please provide a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. (4000 character limit)

School of Nursing:

2) School of Education and Human Development - What experiences or interactions influenced your interest in the program to which you are applying? (500 words)
Please note, the Elementary Education program does not have a second prompt, only #1.
Youth and Social Innovation has their own individual additional prompts after the standard #1.
-Youth and Social Innovation (YSI) is an undergraduate major that supports students interested in careers working with and/or on behalf of youth through a curriculum that includes child and youth development. Please share with us why you want to major in YSI and how it aligns with your future career and/or educational plans. (3000 character limit)
-Our curriculum centers empathy and compassion, self-empowerment, advocacy, and critical social analysis. Self-reflection is an important quality of learning. Please reflect on at least two of these core curricular elements. What do they mean to you? (1250 character limit)
-The YSI major has a strong emphasis on collaborative learning (e.g. group work, whole-class discussions, capstone project). How do you share your own perspectives and learn from others' perspectives in collaborative learning, or what challenges have you experienced when working collaboratively? (1250 character limit)
Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy:
