Reading Season is Upon Us – Application Process Clarification

What is Reading Season, you ask?  Thats what UVA calls the time of year when readers (the real live people who read through your submitted application and documents) hunker down and dive into transfer applications!📖  Readers will be working diligently to review applications now through when decisions are released (no later than May 1).

Please keep in mind that if readers have questions about the information you have submittedor if something is possibly missingour office will reach out to youPlease keep an eye on your email and your application portal!  Your timely response to these touchpoints helps us process your application to the best of our ability and according to protocol.

Speaking of application...let’s talk about the difference between the Common Application and UVA’s Application Process.

Common App is a tool/system, which is part of the UVA application process - a piece of a whole. 🍰🎂 Within the Common App, you complete the application, request all your official college transcripts, and add the University of Virginia as your program (which pulls in the UVA specific portion).

Also part of the application process is requesting your official high school transcripts – this does not take place within Common App.⚠️ Remember – Common App is a tool/system that many colleges and universities use.  However, not every college/university asks for a high school transcript – we do.  These pieces of the whole process are required.

There are optional/suggested pieces too.  For more information on the full breakdown, please visit our previous blog post on the application process.

Until next time, happy transferring!💙🧡
