Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
As you begin to finalize your courses for the semester, please remember to keep the Transfer Course Requirements in mind. If you are interested in the College of Arts & Sciences, please be aware the math, science, and World Language pre-requisites are extensive. If you haven't taken any classes in these areas yet, we suggest you start making progress in them this spring.
After following the link to the Transfer Course Requirements, select your school of interest to view the specific requirements.
Please note, if you are applying as an incoming 2nd year student, you do not need to have completed all the Transfer Course Requirements – though it can be beneficial to spread out your course selections (one history, one math, one social science, etc., in addition to English and World Language).
If you are wondering if your courses will transfer to UVA, the best resource to use is the Transfer Credit Analyzer. For those of you who are applying to the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, please refer to the Engineering Transfer Credit Equivalency List.
Now, a reminder about Fall Transfer eligibility and that the Common App for Transfer is open.
Students must have completed one full year (24 semester hours) of college study after high school graduation. Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses do not count toward the 24 semester hours. Students who have completed three or more years at another four-year institution are not eligible for transfer admission. All enrolled transfer students must spend at least two full years at the University.
For those of you who are eligible for Fall Transfer, here are a couple tips regarding the Common App for Transfer.
- The Common App for Transfer is the only way to apply to UVA as a transfer student. After you create a Common App for Transfer login (this is separate from the first-year Common App), you must add UVA via the “Add Program” tab.
- The four sections of the Common App for Transfer are Personal Information, Academic History, Supporting Information, and Program Materials (this is where you will find the UVA supplement).
- The Common App for Transfer will not let you submit until you have completed all the required fields.
If you are interested in attending a Virtual Transfer Information Session, please check out our Transfer Events page.
Thank you for sticking with me on this lengthy post. We wish you the best this semester!
