Not Offered Admission?

This is the hardest part of it all. You’ve worked so hard and unfortunately, we’re not able to admit all of our great applicants. Please be polite and considerate of others’ feelings in your commentary if you must write here. You all have been very supportive of each other and I assume you’ll continue that attitude here.

didn't happen this time around unfortunately. hopefully when time comes for graduate school it will work out. i didnt think it was going to work out considering how few are admitted into the SON. Everything happens for a reason~

So, if I have an associates from a VCCS school and did not get offered admission, can I change my major to one in a college that I am guaranteed admission into?

Oh well said...

Very glad now I already got an offer from 2nd choice uni...

Is there a process / person to contact so that I can understand the reasons for not being offered admission? I would really like to learn from this experience so that I can work on my "deficiencies" for the Spring 2012 semester admissions process. Extremely disappointed like everyone else who was rejected. Thank you.

Pstar,
i dont think it matters, i also have an associates from a vccs but i think now that decisions are out and all is done and said it is too late. from my understanding you can not change majors/the college you want to go to after decisions but im just a fellow student that applied from a vccs and didnt get in.

I would really like to know the answer to Anonymous's question as well. I would also like to know what happens to the paperwork that was submitted, will you keep it on file, return or destroy them?

I'm working on an associates from a VCCS school and would like to know what I need to do for next application time (Spring 2012 or Fall 2012).

Thank you!

Agreed, I want to know why I was not offered admission. Being that I spent the money on the application few and spent hours working on the essays, I want to know why.

I would like to know why as well, but they probably won't tell us. I knew from the start my grades were lower than expected, but there were legitimate reasons that I tried to get admissions to understand. I think maybe there were just too many applicants whose numbers worked out all too perfectly. Either that or I just suck. I don't think that's true though. UVa is a great school, and I'm proud for having the balls to even apply. I won't accept defeat so easily and just give up on one day being accepted. I'll apply as many times as necessary. Going to UVa has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. I'm probably a reckless fool for doing it, but that won't stop me. So be it. A reckless fool I will be.

I applied for CAS with a 3.3 gpa from VCCS and had all the required courses completed. I was hoping for a waitlist but got rejected. I guess that .1 point really makes a difference. Congrats to those who got in.

I had all my stuff, 4 recommendation letters with a 3.7gpa and also got rejected. I will attempt again next application opportunity. I wonder if admissions keeps all your documentation or if they get rid of everything?

I doubt that their process is "holistic" as they say it is.

Anonymous said...

UVA has no holistic process. CONFIRMED FACT.If your gpa is 3.8, you have a chance, otherwise bye bye.
In fact no university has a holistic process. It is just a myth. they just want more applications to keep ahead in the obnoxious US news report rankings.

Anonymous (right above me), can you cite your information? It would be interesting to see the full details, if what you say is actually true...

@ Anon: what you just wrote about the GPA requirement is entirely false. i know someone who just got accepted w/ roughly a 3.3 from vccs

Anonymous said...

@matt

get into harvard, yale, stanford and all the others in the top 30 with 3.3 and I will quit college lol.
that guy must be lying..go check collegeboard..91 percent of admitted applicants in UVA had a GPA of more than 3.75 :) the rest 9 percent must have been athletes, legacy, african americans etc etc.

no hollistic process..get a 3.9 GPA, act of 34 and go anywhere you want.

@anon

It's not constructive to call someone a liar on this blog. I'd have to say that Matt's right...I also know someone with a 3.3 who got in; don't get too cynical about the arbitration, it's sort of inherent of a process in which admissions only has a limited amount of work, letters, transcripts, etc to try to evaluate the applicants. If you're really set on the goal, keep working on it and it'll happen. My friend with a 3.3 was on either his 2nd or 3rd application for UVa.

I just got Rejected by the Comm school, but I know I can get in under the guaranteed admission. Is there anyone I can contact for re-consideration in the School of Arts and Sciences?

I hate how they waited until everything else was due at the other school I got into. It almost seems like they did that on purpose. Oh well. Glad to finally take that UVA sticker off my car. I know it's just not right for me anymore. Good luck to the rest of you though!

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disheartened from the rejection, but not overwhelmed. A good opportunity to reassess, rework, redouble everything for next year's application - best of luck to all of us returning applicants. Thank you Transfermer. :)
