ugh i got waitlisted..this blows big time

Anonymous said...

after all this waiting, waitlisted. now more waiting... what are the chances of getting off? does admissions put a bunch of people on it and only select a few, or do they make a small list that actually has a chance?

Blueberry said...

I don't understand why I was wait-listed when I was applying under the GAA. I didn't have just the GPA, I took all the right classes and never got anything below a B.

Transfermer, will you please explain?

Anonymous said...

waitlisted.....what were the numbers for those who got in off the waitlist last year?

TeapotMonarch said...

Waitlisted.

VaHockeyD said...

Waitlisted at McIntire.... If you've been waitlisted can you guys put up the school that you have been waitlisted for?

Shawn said...

waitlisted, commerce.
Does anyone know why I can confirm to wait every time I view the decision?

Ben said...

how many applicants got put on the waitlist this year?

TeapotMonarch said...

Heh, was on the phone crying when I wrote my first message. Anywho, thank you so much for even considering me. I am definitely keeping my name on the waitlist and hope to still call UVA my home for the next three years. Thanks again, Transfermer, for such a wonderful blog.

Anonymous said...

hey guys,
I was waitlisted for the School of Nursing third years

Junnan-
mine lets me click it everytime too I'm not sure why

TeapotMonarch said...

Junnan, I believe this is because you can always go back and ask to be taken off the waitlist.non

KJ said...

sigh.

Waitlisted..
Might go to Cal

KJ said...

blueberry--

i think that if you're still working on the requirements this quarter, they want to wait and see you finish them. otherwise, i'm not sure.

Benjamin said...

I was waitlisted in the school of Arts & Sciences.

Simona said...

Waitlisted at Arts & Sciences. I'm accepting a spot on the waitlist, but since I got into W&M I think I'll be there next year.

Blueberry said...

KJ,

I think you're right.

Transfermer,

let me reword my question; once my final grades are in, will I be taken off the waitlist or will it depend on whether or not there is room to take on more students?

JMUVAer said...

looks like i'm joining the waitlist club. my weekend at uva should be a pleasant one....i always look forward to telling half a college athletic team that i didn't get into their school....again...i'm actually hoping my boyfriend doesnt call me for once in my life...i'm glad my roommate isn't here. i'm using her whole box of tissues....

James said...

I got waitlisted but it doesn't bother me because I got into my other choice, Davidson. Which ironically is much more selective. I think I'll go there. Good luck everyone! I hope you all can get off the list!

Anonymous said...

I was waitlisted for A&S more time to wait, glad my Spring Semester grades were good. Crossing my fingers and waiting patiently

Anonymous said...

TO Blueberry:
I just called the admission office and the official there said it mainly depends on how many students are enrolled at last. If everyone accept the admission, then there'll be no space for waitlist club.

Anonymous said...

i wonder how many people got waitlisted?, or how many on average make it from the transfer waitlist every year (i'm guessing not many, since transfers usually want to transfer to a specific school)..
ALthough i would love to go to UVa, and i will keep my hopes up, if there are like 500 people waitlisted, then there is very little reason for me to even stress over getting accepted because obviously that is not likely to happen...

Blueberry said...

Anon,

thank you so much. I would have called but I hate talking on the phone, especially with strangers. Anyways, I'm applying to another school at the moment. I had only applied to UVA thinking I would get in under the GAA, but I have to move onto my back-up plans.

Anonymous said...

Okay, so what are everybody's expected GPA's for this semester...muahah

but now I'll have to go on vacation with the thought of being waitlisted...and then being denied again during vacation.

Anonymous said...

To anon,

The admission office said they do not know how many people are on the waitlist until Monday. But I guess there are a lot, at least 50 people maybe. The probability of transferring from waitlist to being accepted is really low. As far as I know, there were only 3 people rejecting the admission of McIntire Commerce School last year.

Anonymous said...

I mean at least 50 people on the waitlist for one school.

Anonymous said...

yea do we know how many people got waitlisted?

katydid said...

also waitlisted, arts and sciences.

more waiting...

feline ran--作微 said...

Don't worry guys. You will be fine.

Anonymous said...

College board for last year or something has 810 accepted for transfer and 588 enrolled. So then 232 accepted from wait list???

Anonymous said...

this semester im looking at 4.0 gpa :), so hopefully that will increase my chances of getting in to arts and sci on waitlist

SarahD said...

I was waitlisted for third year school of nursing - does this mean I am waitlisted at the UVA admissions or at the SON? I'm a little bit confused haha

Good luck to all of you guys! I really hope we get in!

Anonymous said...

waitlisted...but relieved there is still a glimmer of hope. Good luck to everyone!!!

Anonymous said...

anon they admit 810 people assuming that their yield rate of people actually attending will be lower than 100%... from the stats i've seen in the past the yield has been around 65-70% in the past years... so that def doesnt mean 232 people off the waitlist :( i was waitlisted last year and they told us barely anyone got in off of it

Tintin said...

they threw me on the waitlist...school of architecture..third year... i'm so confused now.. i don't even know when i'm gonna apply for a US visa or whether or not to withdraw from my current university...i dont know whether i should take a summer course or not..
...i dont think i can wait for two more months to find out....i think being rejected would have been much better.

good luck to you all.

UVAfan said...

Guys i was waitlisted!
I'm actually suprised, i was so sure i was going to get rejected. I had a 2.7 gpa in HS, mediocre grades, 3.4 in college, A/B's, but i guess my ECC's and Essay is what made them decide to leave me on the waitlist.

Transfermer, and all the Deans on the Committee on Admissions, I
m thankful for putting me on the Waitlist, although this means i have to wait a bit longer, its all worth it because UVA is where i want all my dreams to come true :)
Good luck to everyone else on the Waitlist!

Anonymous said...

...congratulations..i hope they end up accepting you...but im a bit disappointed..i was a 4.0 student in high school, i got an IB Diploma, and a 3.5 in uni and i got wait listed which is relly unfair...i also had alot of ECC's and a good essay....dont know what more they want :S

TeapotMonarch said...

I had similar stats, and yes, it may feel unfair, but it does not mean you are not unqualified. UVA has an incredibly amount of applicants for a very limited number of spaces. Being waitlisted says nothing about who you are or that you haven't accomplished anything. Many perfectly qualified applicants get flat out denied, so I'd say being waitlisted is pretty awesome. Just keep working hard and either way, I'm sure you'll do just fine! Don't give up hope and don't feel too dejected. Trust me, I am really upset too, but just take it all in stride.

KJ said...

blueberry -- i'd be surprised if they ended up denying someone who followed the gaa to a tee. that's what it's there for after all...

...otherwise they'd probably have to change the name to the almost guaranteed admission agreement.

Smiles :) said...

TeapotMonarch, as many have said, your optimism is astounding and beautiful. You're completely right in the fact that being waitlisted from UVA does not make you any less of a person. I was waitlisted last year, so I know the feeling (not saying it's the exact same thing, but yeah). Stay positive you guys! You are all clearly qualified enough to be put on the waitlist, and I'm sure there will be people who do not accept their admission to the university for a variety of reasons. Sometimes people apply, then change their mind. Anyways the point is stay strong :)

UVAfan said...

James,
So are you gonna stay in the waitlist? Please just go to Davidson! Haha jk

TeapotMonarch,
I feel you. I know who you are from the Facebook group and Carrie and I both think you deserve to to UVA! An I'm not just saying that. I am also very thankful I was put on the waitlist. I was so sure I was gonna get straight up rejected. Let's keep out optimist guys! I know we can do it :)

TeapotMonarch said...

Aww, that made me smile. :) Congrats, Smiles :)! And UVAfan, I wish you the best of luck of getting off the waitlist!

Haha, UVAfan, I think I know who you are too (and if you're on college confidential, I think I know you on there too...if not, forget I said that). Haha, I hope that isn't super creepy. I just recall people saying very similar things on here, the facebook group, and cc.

UVAfan said...

TeapotMonarch,
If your thinking Fredy, then your correct! LOL.
Seriously though, Carrie called me today and told me you got waitlisted, we were really rootin for you and hoping you were getting accepted. But we still have some hope right!?
Keep your warming/relieving/optimist attitude, it's someone like you we need on UVA grounds ;)

If not accepted I will just apply for January term, not gonna sweat it.
Does anyone know approximately how many get waitlisted and we up getting off of it???? And what helps you get off the waitlist??? Is it just spring grades???

TeapotMonarch said...

Haha, I did think was you, actually. And thanks! That's so sweet of you guys! I'm so happy for Carrie and I really hope you and I get in off the waitlist. And yes, we absolutely still have hope! And both of us are still first year (I think you are, right?), so if not this year, we still have two more chances...But let's hope for this fall. :) By the way, I friended you and sent a message.

Other than earning perfect marks this spring semester, what can I do to become a more aggressive applicant? Anything?

Is there anyone who asked to take the University of Virginia English Language Proficiency Exam (UVELPE)on may 7 or may 12?

3more@JMU said...

Unfortunately for me, I can't help but take this personally. While I know it is beyond immature and unrealistic, that is how I honestly look at being wait-listed again. I could understand out of high school, as despite being a strong candidate overall, my freshman and sophomore years were sub-par. But after doing as well as I have, and knowing on paper I am more than qualified, I can't help but take it as an evaluation of a me as a person. I feel like I've shamed my family, and that's the worst part. I can't wait to get the actual letter. It'll give me a bit of reading to do every morning for the rest of my three years here at JMU. I wish I wasn't bitter, but I'm clearly not perfect.

TeapotMonarch said...

3more,

I know you realize that it is a bad way to look at this, so I won't discuss that. However, you were waitlisted. You still have a chance. If you do continue to attend JMU, just make the most of it, get involved, have fun, study hard. There are many applicants with wonderful records, but you are a first year applicant. UVA probably just wants to make sure that your first semester wasn't a fluke (not sure, but that would be my guess). They want to know that you didn't take a fall after your first semester. So, if you really want UVA, just keep your head up and finish off your second semester here strong. And I wish you luck in wherever you end up going next year!

Anonymous said...

What you do in high school doesn't matter. Your "extra-curricular" activities don't matter. Your recommendations wrote by your 10th grade English teacher doesn't matter. The most important thing for transfer application is hard classes and good grades, more or less. The key is being able to stand out with your writing, the ability to make your self seem like you're diverse and ready to meet the challenges that the 21st century faces. I hope that a lot of you all get in off the wait list - I was rejected from a lot of schools applying out of high school, and I know the feeling sucks. But I also think a lot of you all are aiming more for prestige than an education in intellectual honesty. Attending UVA certainly has its perks, but I want more than anything to be an independent thinker, not an object of envy and superiority to my peers.

Anonymous said...

I have to agree with the above comment. The top colleges do not want robots that can do simply what they are told...they want independent and advanced thinkers, people who provide diversity in EVERY aspect of life, and most importantly, colleges want students who will fit in as a member of a learning community. If your application looks like every OTHER application, then the admissions board cannot see you as unique and stimulating...just a thought.

Anonymous said...

I strongly agree with the above 2 comments. As I have said before I think I got waitlisted and not rejected because I really expressed a sense of maturity and a sense of feel for what UVA has to offer for me. Despite my mediocre high school grades, 3.4 GPA in college and 2.7 GPA in high school I'm glad they can actually see the new person I am today and how much good I can contribute to the University. I hope we get off the waitlist guys!! Or at least the ones who deserve to be a part of this amazingly intellectual and friendly community in C'Ville.

Let's keep working hard guys, and prove to admissions we're worthy of being a wahoo!

KJ,

cheer up! Life goes on and it's still not too late to apply to other schools! Did you apply under the GAA as well?

If that's the case, you probably have a better chance of getting off the waitlist, and they accept about 50-100 out of about 400 people each year.

Don't worry too much about it, everything in life happens for a reason, right? (:

Joker said...

I totally agrre with the last 3 comments, I got waitlisted too, but that doesn't it's over. There is still a good chance for us guys to get in. We just have to focus on our finals this semester and even improve our GPAs, who knows what could happen??

Anonymous said...

Yea everyone keep the positive attitude its not over yet!

Anonymous said...

I'm the anonymous at 3:48 pm that everyone has been agreeing with, hi, I just wanted to express some gratitude for the apparent support I'm receiving. No, I wasn't wait-listed. I was accepted. It was probably one of the greatest moments of my life, in all honesty--to me, nothing is more important than a solid education. However, I would urge you all to finish strong and keep up contact with admissions; this is what I've read in blogs and various places that aren't really connecting to me right now, but anyways...
I've just read all these comments and it just makes me feel lucky but at the same time I also feel sympathy. Just the fact that you all agree with my statement is proof enough that you are more than likely competent and engaging enough to be studying at the University of Virginia.
Not trying to sound righteous and jazz, but take my words and apply them!

Cartman said...

Hey Everyone,

I was actually accepted as a transfer but it was bitter sweet because my best friend in COmmunity college, who I worked so hard with to get into UVA, was waitlisted. Im trying really hard to help her though and I thought I would share a few numbers Ive been digging up with everyone here: (keep in mind these are rounded not exact)

1. There's about 3,000 trans apps
2. they accept about 900
3. About 500 are waitlisted (This means you guys passed a major hurdle!)
4. About 50% of the 500 waitlisted students actually accept the waitlist offer

Considering all this. You are actually competing with a pool of only 250 other transfers. Those aren't impossible odds. If your really serious like my friend, Dont give up! Your finals matter.

banh said...

@ Cartman

Where did you get the statistics for waitlists?

Sasha said...

So it's another wait-list. I might as well go down swinging.

UVAfan said...

I'm going to do whatever it takes to get off the waitlist!!
I swear I will.

Anonymous said...

Most of those stats cartman put up are on collegeboard, this blog somewhere, and the blog that dean j has been putting up. But It looks like most of it is based off last year's stats

UVATransfer said...

Blueberry,

The GAA guarantees admission. If you are on the waitlist and not on the accepted list there must have been something missing from the GAA or (god forbid) they made a mistake. Why don't you call the admission office to try to sort this out?

banh said...

Hey is it true that wait listed people may not get their full financial package?

Blueberry said...

UVA Transfer,

I checked the GAA numerous times; I'm positive I took all the courses and have the right GPA. However, my ENG 111 and 112 were dual-enrolled, so I had to take ENG 210 this semester. It is outlined that I have to get at least a B in that course, so I'm guessing that's the reason why they waitlisted me to see how I do this semester even though I never got anything lower than a B.

Instead of calling, I e-mailed them as soon as I got my decision, but I haven't received a response. I'm guessing they are loaded with questions at the moment.

I'm hoping that I have a better chance of getting off the waitlist since I will truly be completing the GAA after this semester's over.

KJ said...

i'm in pretty much the same boat as you blueberry...i applied under the gaa and got waitlisted.

the only thing i've left to do is fulfill the language requirement by taking the Spanish SAT II and i just took it last weekend.

other than that, i have a 3.7 gpa, multiple recs, over 3000 hours at internships with about 2000 at my most recent one.

am i really less-qualified than someone at a VCCS school with a 3.4, no recs, no work experience, and who took the Spanish SAT II two years ago?

i'm starting to lose faith in them. why do they have this agreement if they're going to waitlist people who are finishing it right now...i mean c'mon. we have to pay deposits, make plans, and despite two years of working our tails off, they're saying, "eh. maybe we'll let you in."

the whole reason we worked out butts off to follow every minute little detail in that agreement is so that we'd get in!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Ugh...last year when this happened to me I was hopeful that I would make it off the list.
This year, not so sure...
The first year of not knowing what I'd do with another academic year was fun and exciting.
This year it's just plain scary and depressing.
I really hope it works out. Maybe the third time's the charm?

Transfermer said...

There are about 500 students on the waitlist. We hope to take a significant number (50-100) from it after we receive spring grades, but it will first depend on how many people agree to take our offer. I’ll be frank in saying that most spots will be offered to students who applied to the College of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. The other schools have high returns or yields as we call it here, but hopefully we’ll be able to take someone from the waitlist there as well.

Blueberry et al,
If you think you have the GAA, you should call our office. The GAA can be awarded to you even if you are finishing the requirements this semester. If you are finishing them in the summer, you won’t be eligible.

When you click to stay on the waitlist, the information comes to us, but the screen returns to it’s original state.

It’s been a few days now Teapot, but I’m sorry you were crying. You and many of the repeaters have made it a great blog. I hope you are offered admission in the future.

Anon with the numbers,
That means that last year 588 matriculated after we went to the waitlist.

SarahD,
You are waitlisted for solely the nursing school.

You may send in a letter of continued interest and perhaps an additional recommendation along with your spring grades.

Banh,
I’ve asked student financial services about your question, but they haven’t gotten back to me. I’ll write if I hear something.

Blueberry said...

Transfermer,

I am positive I have everything required by the GAA and I am finishing up this spring.

I just received an e-mail from UVA saying that I was actually accepted, but my letter and sis tell me that I was waitlisted.

PLEASE clarify.

TeapotMonarch said...

Transfermer, thank you for everything. Kind of embarrassing that I wrote I was crying, but it was an emotional moment (I expected it, but after months of waiting, there needs to be a release of emotion). But, as Kurt Vonnegut so beautifully says in Slaughterhouse-Five "So it goes..." (it has become my mantra this week). I called the admissions office this past week, and the lady I spoke was incredibly nice and helpful. I want to thank you and the admissions staff for being so wonderfully patient and helpful through this process. I'm working on finishing this semester strong in hopes of getting off the waitlist, but if not, there's always next semester. (though, I truly hope it doesn't come to that). :)

Sasha said...

Transfermer,
I know that this is still a long way off, but once the committee on admission goes to the wait list and starts to make offers, does it pick a bunch of applicants and send out, say 100 letters telling them they've now been accepted, or do they make one offer at a time until they have filled up exactly how many spots are needed?

Just wondering... though in all honesty I don't know why knowing this will make me feel better.

Sasha said...

Teapot, I am also sorry you cried. I'll say it, I was bawling when Igot mine, but hey a little catharsis never hurt anyone (I was really crying because my parents still refuse to get me a puppy).

I hope your finals are going well though. if you have any dining dollars left, burn those suckers at starbucks at any point over the next 48 hours. If you have none, then come find me, I'll be trying to get rid of the $60 I have left before it's too late.

TeapotMonarch said...

Wow, $60?! Sorry, I only have $.99 which will be used to get a $.75 coffee from the machine downstairs for my 8 am tomorrow. Good luck getting rid of it! I recommend the smoothies from C-store or UREC...that's where a lot of mine went.

I'm sorry you cried too. :( And no puppy? That's blasphemous. If you ever get one, I highly recommend a golden. I'm so excited! I get to see mine Friday. :) But they are definitely wonderful dogs. Haha, then again, I absolutely love dogs and want many, so most breeds are good.

Blueberry said...

OMG

I'm ACCEPTED!

Transfermer,

Since VCCS does not use a +/- scale on their GPA's, is this taken into account when comparing GPA of vccs students to applicants from schools that do use plus/minus weighting?

My son is waitlisted on his application to transfer to UVA as a rising soph. He understands that he needs to send his second semester grades as soon as possible. However he has not even taken his first exam at VT so it will be 10 days or more before he will be able to have his grades sent to you.

Will he receive full consideration even though many other applicants may already be able to send their transcripts?

Also, based on sheer numbers, do more students transfer in as rising sophs or as rising juniors?

Thanks

lovemeUVA said...

I have a quick question:
I've been taking the past year off of school after being rejected from UVA off of last year's wait list. I don't have any new transcript information to send to the school, but want to ensure that the school (I applied to Arts and Sciences) knows that I'm still totally committed to being at UVA. Is there anything - in addition to perhaps a letter updating the school of my past several months' activities - that I can send to the school to keep me on their radar?
Thank you so much!

Anonymous said...

@ Ed M

With VT last finals on May 13 and the current accepted students having until like May 15 to submit their dues, I guess that they won't start looking at waitlistees until after that date.

SarahD said...

I am waitlisted at the SON and was wondering - do you happen to know the chances of getting off? I have talked to Dr. Carroll and she said there were only 8 spots available so I'm guessing it depends on those 8 - any suggestions of what to do? I really really want this and I sent a letter today reiterating that but any suggestions would help! Would a visit to UVA help things at all? Let me know when you can please! Thanks for everything!

Like many fellow UVA lovers here, I deperately want to leave Va. Tech and go to UVA! Its not that I dont't like Tech, it nice and I have made many friends here but its just not the best environment to get the best out of me. I have made decent "all a/b's" here, but I know (I'm not just saying that, I have this werid inner feeling) that at UVA I can do so much more. I just want the environment that UVA provides, where I won't make the same mistakes that I made at Tech. Where I won't let distractions come in the ways of studies and where I will give up the next three years in the name of my career! I JUST REALLY want to start over!

I want a new beginning..........

By the way, if 500 people are waitlisted and only half of them take the spot, leaving 250 students competing for that 60-100 waitlist spot. That's about 40%chance or about 1 in a 4 chance? Is that true?

TeapotMonarch said...

Ed M,

I called in last week and the women I spoke with told me how getting off the waitlist as a first year was very difficult. A main reason for that is that more second year applicants have completed more general education requirements for UVA. So, from that information, I would assume that people applying as third years are more competitive, but that is not to say rising second years cannot (I have known quite a few people to get in off the waitlist as first years). Hope that helps and best of luck to your son!

And congratulations, Blueberry! That's awesome! Best of luck to you at such a wonderful univeristy. :) I'm sure you'll do splendidly!

Sasha,
We try to send out decisions in a batch-format --- so all at once.

Ben B,
Yes, we take this into account.

Ben,
Same email address.

Hi Ed M,
Most transcripts won’t be available until late May. So, for this reason, we won’t move to the waitlist until early June. It’s still about half and half – sophomores and juniors that is.

lovemeUVA,
Yes, we would appreciate any updates you can give us.

SarahD,
If you can send an additional recommendation, that would be helpful. And yes, it depends on the 8 we’ve offered to.

Let’s see Silent6481,
Close to 500 students were waitlisted. I think unfortunately that more than half agree to stay on it. But sure, undoubtedly your chances go up with the more people that say no to the waitlist.

I'm still waiting for some on my final grades for this semester to be posted. I am on the waitinglist for the third year nursing transfer program and I know the decision - if need be - is going to be made right after deposits are due on May 15. If my transcript is still not complete should I just send it as it is or wait? Thanks!

Is there an average GPA for the spring semester of those who make it off the waitlist?

3more@JMU,
you know, I understand what you mean completely. I've been wait listed twice and it just feels like they don't want me because of the person I am and not because of my academics...ugh it just sucks, it really does.

Transfermer,

Are one's Spring grades the most important factor in the waitlist decision process? Or do other factors (recommendations, awards, etc..) have equal weight?

Also,

Would scheduling a meeting with an admissions officer help in any way? I know that the admissions office does not take records of such a thing, but showing your face and displaying a continued interest in the university couldn't hurt right?

Thank you for all your hard work on this blog, it has made the entire process much more bearable.

Hi Transfermer!
Thanks for all the info,

I have a question!
I just finished my finals, and I'm just waiting for the grades, and will send the official transcript as soon as i can.
Anyways, i have a professor who is writing me a recommendation, but she will not have it till after the 20th. Is that too late to send it in?

And just a side question. Not sure if you can answer this, but hey might as well give it a shot.
I'm Transferring as a sophomore, to the college of arts and sciences. On average, do sophomores applying to that school have a high number of acceptance from the waitlist?
Thank You,

I'm in the same situation as Wally. College of arts and sciences, and i would be transferring as asophmore.
I would also like to know if there is a good chance for us, and also if being from NOVA (VCCS) helps my chances any?

Thanks

Hi transfermer,
i forgot to ask this, but on annother post it says,

Recommendations may be
1) mailed to the address on our website.
They may be 2) faxed to (434)924-7674.
And 3) NEW, as of November 21, they may be 3) emailed through traditional email to uvarecommendations@virginia.edu. Your name must be in the subject line and we'd like your Date of Birth in the body of the email.

So is it still possible to email them, or is that no longer possible?

SarahD,
It’s best that we have all of the grades at once.

Anticipation,
We look at it on a case-by-case basis.

SA,
Spring grades are the most important, but we like to see additional materials. They just don’t have equal weight.

You can write a letter of continued interest. There’s no need to visit. Thanks for your nice words.

Wally,
After May 20th? No, that’ll be just fine. On the whole, statistically we take more students off of the waitlist for the “College.” I couldn’t tell you of the specific chances for sophomores. And yes, you can still email recommendations.

UVAHopeful,
You’re getting closer to asking what you all might want to know. In some cases, if your high school was mediocre and your first semester in college was stellar, we may have waitlisted you to see if you can keep it up. In some cases, students in this situation were not offered, meaning we’d like to see more. So, someone in their first year has a little bit more of an uphill battle, but again we take it on a case-by-case basis.

Hello,

I think I'm going to be rejecting my offer for admission for the second time... I'm wondering if this will hurt my chances of getting into UVA's school of medicine in 2 years.

WanttoWahoo said...

Transfermer,

Can I have Fredericksburg's spot?

UVAHopeful said...

Hi,
besides clicking the we do want to stay on the waitlist on our SIS. is there anything else that is "necessary" for us to do to remain on the waitlist? Do we have to send in anything in writing to the school?

Thank You!!

Wally_N said...

Just got my grades!
Got a 4.0!!!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
hopefully it will help :D

Transfermer said...

Fredericksburg,
I doubt it.

WanttoWahoo,
I wish it worked out that way.

UVAHopeful,
I know you know this part as well, but the only other necessary would be sending in your final transcript.

I was wait-listed for the school of commerce and was wondering when I should be expecting a decision. Thanks.

Applied through GAA said...

o.k. after discovering this blog, i'm relieved to know i was mistakenly reading the first year waitlist blog..phew!

my one question i have is, if i applied under GAA and met the GPA requirements (if i recall correctly, minimum 3.5 GPA--i have a 3.86), how did i get waitlisted? shouldn't i been offered admission? should i call the office to straighten this out?

on the common app, the only reference to GAA was to check a box if you were applying under that program..

any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks for the blog and hang in there everybody...

p.s.--final semester transcripts were sent last Tuesday, too.

well, i just got off the phone from someone who was able to help answer my question... it turns out transfer to comm school is excluded from GAA--only arts and sciences. what a surprise...

i guess i'll wait in line patiently now...thanks..

Transfermer,
Is there any update on waitlist numbers? how many remained on, how many will be likely offered admission, and such?

thanks. The weather is pretty again today.

Does it matter whether you are a sophomore or junior, or is it more what requirements you have already filled and the number of credits you have? Thanks!

Hi,
I have one final question (i think :D)
How do we know if you have received our transcripts or not?
Thanks,
Wally

yesssssss,I got accepted off the waitlist!! I can't believe it. Woooooooo, I just sent my final transcripts last week(I got 4.0 gpa in the spring), and I checked the status online tonight. I still can't believe it!!! I hope u guys get accepted too, there is obviously big chance for everybody!

Anticipation said...

I thought they were sending rejection/ acceptions all at once?

Wally_N said...

what??
i sent my transcripts as soon as the school sent me them (on friday).
Was that too late?!
And i also thought they send out all acceptance letters at once (and i thought they only mail them)

Is there a mistake or something? Or is joker joking, lol??

LOL, nice one Wally_N, I am not joking guys, I was on the waitlist and didn't check my status for a week or so,and just tonight it' on my account online:
" Dear Mr. Shokry:

Congratulations on your offer of admission to the University of Virginia! One of the greatest pleasures in being an admission dean is inviting distinguished and talented students to join our academic community. We acknowledge your achievements and express our confidence in your continued success. "

TeapotMonarch said...

Congratulations, Joker! That's so exciting! Haha, that sent my spazziness into overdrive though...Guess we'll find out soon enough.

TeapotMonarch said...

Anticipation, I'm pretty sure waitlist is on a rolling basis, but I am not positive on this.

Anticipation said...

TeapotMonarch,
Earlier transfermer had said
"Sasha,
We try to send out decisions in a batch-format --- so all at once."
So I think they send them all at once.

Maybe for most people they do it in a batch, but a few get it earlier?

Sasha said...

Maybe very few people were offered admission in the first batch. Joker was included in a small group of people, which because of its size, does not include many people who post on the blog regularly. So offers have already been made and if your SIS hasn't been updated, you've not been offered. Though I remember a letter was sent to me last year when i was removed from the waitlist and just rejected in early June.

Anticipation said...

That too goes against what transfermer has said:
"Hi Ed M,
Most transcripts won’t be available until late May. So, for this reason, we won’t move to the waitlist until early June. It’s still about half and half – sophomores and juniors that is."
And I do not see why they would not send out acceptance letters and rejection letters at the same time.

Wally_N said...

ya, thats what i thought i read as well...
maybe he was accepted but never knew it :P
or hes still "joking" :X

Joker said...

Haha, I already mad a comment before on that post that I was waitlisted, and just after I logged in SIS last night, I was accepted!!. Why r u guys freaking out any way?? May be just some people got the decision early, and the rest of the waitlisters will have their's on june. Just pull it off ur minds and think about whatever u r doing NOW! I haven't been thinking about the whole thing for 3 weeks since may 1st, and there it was, from no where!

Wally_N said...

Stop Joking :X

Sorry, i can't help it ^.^

Waitlisted. Its the SAT. You can have everything right but if SATs don't go your way you might as well give up.
