Offered Admission?

Please use this post to ask questions if you have been offered admission.

Congratulations! As I said in my previous post, you will receive an offer letter (modest in size) in the mail.  We never promise admission to a particular major.  You have been admitted to the school to which you’ve applied. Major declaration and planning will occur at orientation.

Your $400 admissions deposit can be paid online.  This goes towards your first semester’s tuition. Below your online “letter,” you should see buttons to accept or decline our offer of admission.  Clicking “YES” will not completely secure your spot in the class.  You will need to pay your $400 deposit to set it in stone.  You can pay with a credit card (we do not accept VISA) or with an e-check.  As specified in the letter, you will have until May 15th to put down a deposit. Financial aid information will start to go out next week.  We do not have open houses for transfer admits. You are welcome to visit and look around, but keep in mind that our students and faculty are in the midst of final exams.

As far as the next steps go, 72 hours after you deposit, you should be able to take U.Va.’s responsible computing quiz, officially set up your email account and register for orientation. Housing and dining information will take a little longer to come.   It is so important to keep an eye on both your old and new email addresses.  EVERYTHING happens on email.  Don’t miss important deadlines by ignoring these accounts. Your academic credit will not be evaluated until you pay your deposit and send in your final transcript. This evaluation is ongoing until summer orientation.

If you decide not to come to UVa, please be sure to decline the offer using the other button-- the "NO" button. We and our wait listed students would really appreciate this courtesy.
Lastly, keep up the good work.  We’ve admitted you under the assumption that you will continue to show strong grades.  You’ve come this far.  Let’s keep it up!   Feel free to come back here for moral support during that last final exam or paper.

How will the financial aid information be released? Is there a particular day? I'd love to make my deposit but I need to know how much of the tuition I will have to pay myself.

Do you know how when we will hear back from specific schools, like Curry?

Thanks

Hello,

If I pay my deposit with an eCheck, do I have to wait for it to clear before I can apply to housing?

Thanks!

Will any classes I take over the summer be transferable to UVA?

Thanks!

When do we get to see financial aid information?

Is there anyway to find out how many credits we will have before accepting the offer? Since I go to a university in Texas I don't know if UVa will determine my credits are enough for Sophomore or Junior Standing. This impacts my decision to accept the offer.

Can we take classes over the summer as a visiting student? Will these courses be considered apart of the 60 transferable credits or just classes taken at the university?

Is there a Facebook group for the accepted students to connect?

If we didn't submitted the FAFSA but not the CSS is there anyway we will get any aid. Or is it guaranteed that we will be paying full tuition?

What is the 2015 tuition rate for transfers? Is the same as the "enter" students or the 2nd or 3rd year students?

Hello, I just received admission and am looking for housing. I am going to be a 3rd year in the fall. I am coming from CA, I'm in a sorority and a cheerleader for the school.
If you know anyone that is looking for a roommate or advise as to where to find one, I would truly appreciate it.
Please email ashleycappo@msn.com with any information.

Any dudes looking for housing, I have an on-grounds housing opportunity where you would live in an apartment for four guys. You would have your own room. Email me at bln9zw@virginia.edu if you are interested in more details.

How many years are we allowed to be at UVA if we are transferring as a third year, do we have to finish our undergrad program in 2 years? When do we have to declare a major?

Yoo What's up bro. I am currently a duke and will be a sophomore also!

I am working on answering your questions as best I can. Please check back later today.

Hey there! Thanks for taking time to look at our questions. I'm wondering when housing applications will be available for us transfer students? Right now, it says, "The application process is not currently available to you."

Thanks again! Just wondering!

I applied to the RN to BSN program. When will we know if we actually got into the program and not just UVA? Also, when will financial aid be released? You also said that there is not an orientation for transfers?

Thank you so much for answering all these questions. I just had one... on the acceptance letter it says our acceptance is conditional on "distinguished grades". What exactly does that mean? Would two B+'s be ok? What about one B? I would be heartbroken if it was taken away from me.

Thanks again.

I know that we are able to enroll for summer sessions, is the first summer session still open since it is so late?

Taylor, if you applied to the teaching program in the Curry school, you should receive a letter later this week.

Alina and Hoo99, yes summer courses can transfer. In fact, we recommend that you take a course at UVa in the summer. This will help you get familiar with Grounds before it all really gets going in the fall.

TylerStayer,
If you’ve spent four semesters in college by the end of spring 2015, you’ll be a junior here. You can use this gadget for many of your credits as well - http://es-sazwebdmz.eservices.virginia.edu/asequivs. Remember that just because it’s not listed, it doesn’t mean it won’t transfer.
Anon who didn’t complete the CSS Profile, Please make up an alias next time. It will be difficult for you to get aid from the University. Hopefully, you’ll qualify for federal (FAFSA) aid.
Anon who couldn’t see their letter any more, Please make up an alias next time. You should receive a letter in the mail this week.

Newwahoo, yes, you’ll have two years here if you are entering as a third year. You’ll declare your major in the summer, or during the fall semester. If there are spots available, you can register for summer courses as late as the day before the class begin.

Daniela,
That is a situation where you can only be admitted to the program to which you applied. So, you’ve been admitted to the RN-BSN program. You should receive a letter this week as well.

Katie,
You’ll fit in well here. There is nothing wrong with two Bs.

So if we completed our FAFSA but not the CSS Profile will we still be receiving our financial aid information this week?

Tyler,
Hopefully, you received your package even though we wouldn't be able to provide you with institutional funding.
