Not Offered Admission?
This is the hardest of all. I wish we didn't have this option, but unfortunately, we are unable to admit all of our applicants. Please be polite and considerate of others' feelings in your commentary if you must write here.

still waiting! But i'm sure i'm belong to this group in about 10 minutes =(
I didn't expect to get in and I didn't. But, it's alright because life...happens. I've faced disappointment before, but I'm a strong person and I know that I have it in me to be successful. UVA is still a great school, congratulations to all who get in! :-)
I didn't get in. I'm fairly surprised because my test scores and GPA were well above the average accepted transfer student at UVA. Would it be out of the question to call and ask what was the weak part of my application? I'd like to know in case I decide to apply next year. Congrats to everyone that got in.
Denied again - which is ironic since the director admissions said my application was strong last semester and fell certain I would get in for the fall. oops- he didn't get that right. Don't give applicants false hope like that. Certainly made this afternoon a bad one... so I will stay at my college which enjoys an equally strong academic reputation. Don't know why I ever thought I wanted to attend UVA.
At least we weren't wait listed! Anything but to prolong that torture! I love UVa, but not getting in saves me from having to choose between UVa and UCLA. Thank goodness UCLA let their transfer applicants know last week so it took some of the pressure off.
Best of luck to everyone and if your heart is set on UVa remember there is always grad school! haha!
I love it when those who don't get accepted or waitlisted bad mouth the school. "Don't know why I ever thought I wanted to attend UVA."
Really?
Did you even consider the fact that maybe your courses/ grades are not as good as those who did make it?
With that attitude, maybe it is better if you stay at your college. If you think that the school is at fault because you didn't make it, then you are the type of person that this school doesn't need.
Get over it and work harder to get accepted next time. Or in your case, just stay at your school which is obviously MUCH better than UVa.....
I didn't get accepted...even thought I am very sad, I want to say thank you for those people who view my application. I will work even harder. stay positive.
I didn't get in for the 2nd time. This is not a judgment of academic potential, as my decision stated. I know I will be at UVA next year. Next year will be my year, and many more transfers too. I love UVA! I will work 10x harder these next 2 semesters and will do whatever it takes to get accepted for fall 2011. I'm just now worried about whether transferring to RBC is a good move or a bad move? I can't stay at NVCC anymore and need to move away.
Guys, don't give up if you really have your heart set on UVA. Like UVaTransfer said: Don't blame the school for something that's YOU are in control of. UVA simply makes those decisions and chooses the best applicants for such a highly recognized and amazing University. Thanks for all your work and effort you put into this blog Transfermer. And much thanks to UVA! Expect to see me next year!
Keep the faith guys and never never never give up :-)
hey, i got denied 3 times i was in this position last year. i went to alabama instead and made good grades and tried again, i got in because i was persistent. persistence is key, if UVA is what you want keep trying they love to see that you are still interested and if your grades match they will take you, good luck to you all!
Transfermer, is it possible to contact someone and ask for weak points of our application or recommendations? And if so, when would be a good time? I know everything is hectic right now with newly admitted transfers, but I want to make sure I do everything I can to have a stronger application come November. Thank you!
Ella, Just to put things into perspective for you, Yes i did get accepted, but this was my third time applying (64 credits, 4.0 gpa). I applied last fall from UF with 31 credits and was denied. I applied for again for spring with 47 credits and was denied again. Not once did i think that the process was unfair since that would take away from those who did make it. "I am more than qualified to attend UVA. Thus, you are in no position to judge the way I feel." Really? So you know each person who was accepted or waitlisted? Did you read their transcripts and compare? How do you know you are more than qualified if you don't know the transcript of each person who applied?
You say that you hope that i didn't make it, and then say that i am being cynical and self-deprecating. For someone who is taking no fault in the outcome and putting all the blame on the school for being unfair, you make me laugh. You make it seem as if the school from the very beginning, decided that you being accepted was out of the question.... hey, maybe they didn't like your name! As you put it, "Get over yourself" and realize that the only person at fault for the outcome was you. Don't put the blame on others for your shortcomings.....
This portion of the blog is for people who are not offered admission, not people who were to chide others about not working hard enough.
Ella you bring up a fair point that sometimes the admissions process seems arbitrary, and an applicant may be accepted to one school that has a higher rank and lower admit rate, but be denied for another. If you've worked hard you know you did all you could, and past that sometimes it's just not meant to be. For some reason or another the school is not the right fit, and it sucks to be rejected but sometimes you end up with a better option!
I'll say it again. If you were not part of the decision making process then you shouldn't be making any accusations. This "higher rank" school that you were accepted at doesn't necessarily qualify you to be accepted at UVa. If each school was the same, then there would be no point in going to a specific school. What your school looks for could be completely different that what UVa looks for. Does this really put the school at fault for not accepting you?
I understand that you are disappointed in not making it and emotions tend to run high sometimes. I just had to comment since i believed your comments to be demeaning to those who did make it and this is just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to one and you don't have to agree with me.
I know that i came off as sort of an a** hole.... and i apologize. Anyways, as brenda said, this is for those who did not get accepted and i really have no point writing here making you feel even worse. This will be my last comment, i promise. Again, im sorry, and i wish you the best whether you all decide to reapply in the future or move on to something possibly better.
As a denied student, I am very depressed as well....However blaming the school is neither smart or productive...Not going to mention any names but if this is speaking to you...Your attitude displayed within your post has left a lot to be desired, grow up and realize every single decision in life will not go in your favor.....I still love UVA and even though I'm confident in my abilities,I was obviously not what they were looking for....I'm thankful for the openness of the blog for each of us to express our feelings, speculations and opinions but ummmm lets all work to not be immature and severely negative....We all feel bad, encourage the next person....I wish each and every one of you good luck, wherever you may end up....
dipillu65, Yea, i actually love UF... i grew up in florida, and did my highschool in western high (davie, fl). Most of my friends went to FSU UM and FAU tho so it was kind of bittersweet, but i still love it here.
The only reason that I'm transferring is that my fiance got a job in D.C so i don't want to be too far away from her.
UVA Transfer, just keep your comments to the accepted students page. Nobody here cares about your opinion. Your fiance is really lucky. You are quite the catch since you know everything. Just for the record I got in on my first try.
Anon, What gives you the right to talk about me and my fiance? That's just disrespectful. If you want to argue that i have no right to be in here or that no one cares about my opinion, then that is fine, but that comment was way out of line.
if all you want to do is argue then please just stop commenting. there's no point to fighting anonymously on the internet and it's very frustrating to those of us who just want to read this blog.
It is natural to be upset or disappointed about the outcome. I hope that as it sinks in, the commentary on here will cool off. Take a break from the blog if you can and if you have to come back and look again, do so in a few days. I'll be back with more tomorrow.

Didn't get in for the third time :( At least I got into W&M
Oh no! Is there anything students not offered admission can do to be considered for the waitlist?

you two are the worst. the last thing this blog needs is an argument between two school snobs. you both ought to cool it.
