Want a degree from UVA but need an online program? The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) may be for you.

We know not every student can come live in Charlotteville or revolve their schedule around being in the classroom Monday-Friday during the workday.  Students work, students support themselves, students have full-time family responsibilities, and so much more.

The SCPS offers several programs and certificates, one of which is the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS).🎓  Offering flexibility in your concentration area and study methods (synchronous or asynchronous), students can build a degree and schedule that works best for them and their lifestyle.💻

Join the SCPS for a BIS virtual information session on March 17 from 6:30-7:30pm to learn about this degree completion pathway, prerequisite requirements, application process, and deadline.  *Hint: it’s different from the application and March 1 deadline for our other programs.😉*

Paid Biology Summer Research Opportunity for VCCS Transfer Students

Are you a motivated, collaborative, biology-loving learner who is looking to transfer from the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) to UVA this fall?  If so, you may be eligible for a full-time, paid summer research position with the Gibson Lab.🔬

The Gibson Lab works on the evolution and ecology of infectious diseases through field observation, laboratory manipulations, and experimental evolution.  This summer’s research aims to answer questions such as

  • Why are some hosts so much sicker than others?
  • How do hosts defend against parasites, and how do parasites evolve to counter these defenses?
  • What genetic and environmental factors drive disease spread in host populations?

If these questions spark your intellectual interest, we invite you to apply.  The application deadline is April 1.  For additional information and application steps, please visit the Gibson Lab Summer Research Experience for Incoming Transfer Students.🧪
