Still Working

We are still working on the wait list. I will announce it on here when we've completed our review. Students have been offered spots to all schools, but obviously the smaller schools have only taken a handful of students. College of Arts and Sciences has taken the largest sum. Again, we're taking 50-100 students. We hope to close the wait list in the next few weeks. We understand it's stressful, but I hope the outcome will be positive for you.

Thank Transfermer for telling us the news.

thanks transfermer! good, there's still time...lol

Anonymous said...

I'm confused...he makes it sound like all the offers have been given by the way in which he words the post "College of Arts and Sciences has taken the most"? Past tense?

Sasha said...

No, transfermer is simply saying that THUS FAR, the College has taken the most.

SarahD said...

Thanks transfermer! I was just wondering though you said that people have been taken off at all schools - does this include the nursing school?

Haha said...

Has taken is actually not the past tense.... ;)

SarahD said...

and just to clarify - I meant the nursing school for 3rd year transfers

Thanks!

so... if you type your name and search at virginia.edu, it shows your name, e-mail, number, etc... but what's difference between kasu and clas? my sister is in college of arts and science and so am I, but her's says college of arts and science-kclas, mine says college of arts and science-kasu, and my friend's says college of arts and science-jclas. What's difference o_O

Hey hey, I am waitlisted for the second year and have been reading this blog and the other U.Va. blog the whole time...I know it sounds cheesy but I just want to say that for most of you, your enthusiasm and positivity have been so helpful in making me feel less alone. In a few weeks one way or the other this waiting will be over for me. By this point, I'm not holding out much hope of getting in. But I truly congratulate all the people who were finally accepted and to the rest of us, cheers. Maybe your brilliance just doesn't show up well on paper.
Thanks for being there, and good luck guys.

"I will announce it here when we've completed our review."

Since we all certainly have been reviewed , does it mean we have already lost the chance of getting?
Is the admission board waiting for more transcripts to come and going to pick out some from those people?

Just curious

how many kids were wait listed to begin with? how many said yes?

TeapotMonarch said...

I believe it said somewhere that roughly 400 were put on the waitlist with probably half accepting the waitlist spot. I haven't seen any exact numbers; what was written above is just what I've heard (possibly on the blog? I can't remember where I saw it).

Heads up on housing said...

Just a heads up: If you're still wait listed, you will end up having to find housing if you are accepted. I spoke with the housing office today and the waiting list is currently just under 200 students long, and that is for students accepted in May. As you continue in your journey, keep that in mind. :)

Anonymous said...

So...was it just under 200 to begin with or is it 200 as of now? Does anyone have any idea how many offers have been given out already or how many more might possibly be given out?

ahhh nevermind I read your post completely wrong!

Got a sensational news today. Life is really full of surprises.

Good luck to all.

I was accepted off the waitlist on june 3rd and applied for housing around june 12th...i was put on the housing waitlist and i got a housing offer for gooch/dillard on the 18th! I wonder how the choose who gets off the housing waitlist?

asdf said...

Hmm...I applied for housing around june 12 too and still no offer.

*Sigh* said...

I got my housing application confirmation on May 7... and I'm waitlisted?! (They didn't notify me, I called.) They said the deadline was 29 May to be considered in the first pool of housing.... Things are really messed up down in the housing office. *shakes head*

Smiles :) said...

*sigh*:

I completely and utterly agree. Speaking from the perspective of someone who was accepted May 1st and applied for housing soon after, this it is incredibly frustrating to hear that someone who was on the waitlist for admissions was given housing first.

Anonymous said...

hey i'm the anon who received housing though I was on the waitlist.....though I'm happy about it, I agree with you all that me getting housing before you guys really makes no sense.

TeapotMonarch said...

Me and my "roommate" got off the waitlist the same night and applied for housing at the same time (while on the phone filling it out together). She got offered; I did not. Very annoying. Found some nice off-campus housing places though if I don't get off the waitlist.

For those who need housing, this is a good site to look for stuff. http://www.brac.com/index.cfm
(Brac is Blue Ridge Apartment Council)

quilty said...

uhh..how is it possible that, speaking as someone who was accepted in normal admissions,I still haven't received a housing decisions while waitlisted students are getting housing. Answer me that.

*Sigh* said...

Quitly, I had to call to find out I was waitlisted. Even then, it took them fifteen minutes to find my name. They swore up and down that they had no record of me, insisted I would have gotten an e-mail, and then said, "Oh! You're number such and such on the wait list." So, don't panic if they can't find you at first. I felt terrible for the lady on the other end, she was amazingly kind and helpful... but I needed to know the situation so I could start looking at apartments, and I hadn't heard anything.

sorry, I didn't add a question mark

Confused said...

Transfermer,
What should we do if we applied for the School of Nursing, were wait listed, and then accepted - but it says for the College of Arts and Sciences? Is that they accidentally wrote down the wrong program or that I was not accepted to the School of Nursing and they considered me for the College of Arts and Sciences and accepted me there? I don't necessarily expect you to be able to answer this, but I guess my question is, who do I contact? The School of Nursing, College of Arts and Sciences, both, or simply just email/call undergraduate admissions? I'm pretty confused!

Thanks!

NurSing said...

Confused...

When did you hear from the nursing program? If you don't mind me asking what school are you coming from? What was your GPA?

Confused said...

NurSing,
That's the thing, I didn't hear from the School of Nursing, I heard from the College of Arts and Sciences, it's like I never applied to the School of Nursing. On SIS it said School of Nursing, but then it randomly changed to College of Arts and Sciences when my decision came out. And I'm coming from NVCC after being wait listed from UVA last year and my GPA is a 3.8. I guess it doesn't really matter too much because I'm only going to be a sophomore so I couldn't start the actual nursing curriculum until my 3rd year anyways, but I don't want to have to re apply and possibly not get in, and I also don't want to have to take the foreign language requirements for CLAS, when it is not even needed for nursing.

Transfermer said...

Confused,

You need to call the admissions office about this.

Ran said...

Confused,

I guess that's the problem. You can only enter nursing as a junior.

Anonymous said...

Good Luck to all! If you are looking for housing, GRANDMARC AT THE CORNER still has availability and it is right in the heart of campus. Check it out, www.grandmarcuva.com! We also do ROOMMATE MATCHING so if you don't really know anyone, we can help match you up. All transfer students are invited to attend our catered open house here at our property on June 20th and 21st from 2-4pm. CONTACT US SOON! WE ARE FILLING UP FAST!

NurSing said...

Confused, when did you hear from them?

Confused(Not anymore though lol) said...

Ran,
No you can be admitted into the nursing program your freshman, sophomore, or junior year. But you can't start taking the actual nursing classes until you have finished your prerequisites which typically takes two years. But there are freshman and sophomores in the actual school. I don't know if that explanation makes anything clearer lol.

NurSing,
I heard I got off the wait list and into the College of Arts and Sciences around June 8th I believe.

And thanks Transfermer, I called them and got everything cleared up.

Ran said...

So why you get into Art and Science instead of Nursing?

Balloary said...

Is there anyone on the waitlist who has been rejected?

Anonymous said...

Nobody will be rejected. People that are rejected will not be notified until the admission is closed.

Anonymous said...

Still waiting...ahh...just a general question to the people who have been writing on this blog...are you all applying as 2nd years or 3rd years?

Anonymous said...

I'm still waiting too, but I won't have too much hope at this point :(. I guess I can reapply next year.

I'm a second year applicant.

Best of luck to all and I hope you guys will be happy wherever you end up.

kfr said...

Transfermer,

I was offered admission (yay!) about a week ago. It says that an official letter and other information has been sent, but I have not received it yet. This was about a week and a half/two weeks ago. I'd like to have this information before I accept or decline. What should I do?

Anonymous said...

kfr,

Congratulations!

Would u mind telling us which school are you in?

Information said...

KFR, when I was accepted I received only my acceptance letter. I received no other information before I paid my deposit, and even since then I have hardly received any. I tell you that to tell you this ;): if you have specific questions you are waiting on, it may be best to ask the University directly rather than wait on information you may or may not get. :)

Caitlin said...

KFR,

I actually never received an acceptance letter, only my welcome book some two and half weeks later. Don't wait for anything in the mail, if you have decieded to transfer you need to pay right away because you need to find housing (you will be put on the wait list so look for off campus) and subit other forms so you can enroll in July. Don't wait your already behind.

Congrats :)

Anonymous said...

Is there anybody accepted after this passage was posted?

Anonymous said...

krf,

If you want to go to Uva, i suggest you go ahead and pay the deposit so you can get your stuff together. I was accepted June 3, and all I got was the viewbook. It takes a full 3 days for your admission deposit to go through, then you can sign up for an you need for email, which you need for everything like orientation, housing (which I suggest you start looking for off campus asap.)

KJ said...

Just got my acceptance letter...

Trying to decide between College of Business at JMU (I'm super-interested in Accounting) and Arts & Sciences at UVA (I'd be doing my second interest, Economics).

:/

WahooWannabe said...

If i got into UVA i wouldn't be making that :/ face. You're lucky.. Decisions may be difficult to make, but they're also a luxury to have.

I wish i was accepted to UVA.
There are only a couple of days until the waitlist closes.. I'm getting very sad.

WahooWannabe said...

By the way, by acceptance letter- do you mean the actual letter in the mail or was it posted online? I'm curious if they're still taking people up until the last minute before they close the waitlist. I'm also praying for a miracle...

KJ said...

I'd sorta written it off. Got the letter in the mail yesterday and checked online and it said I was accepted.

I think I'd checked a few days before and it said I was still on the waitlist.

It's just frustrating because I'd already written it off and went to JMU's orientation and got a place down there and got all excited. UVA had been my dream school for four years, but I was forced to get over it when I was waitlisted.

I'll accept it and go to orientation. I wish they'd just accept more people and do away with these waitlists so people don't have to make decisions so far into the summer.

Sorry if I sound like kind of a douche for not being totally enthused...it's just tough.

feline ran said...

anybody got off the waitlist of McIntire already?
Gosh, I need news

This is getting ridiculous...people need to know it's basically the end of June...

SecondandaHalf? said...

Transfermer,

I just got my credit evaluation report and I'm having a hard time figuring out what year I'm considered. I'm kind of stuck in second-year/third-year limbo. Is there is a site that runs through how many credits you need to have for each year? I've tried searching the UVA website but I can't find anything.

Eliot said...

In theory you should be completing thirty credits a year and graduating in four years with 120 credits.

Lauren said...

Hey Transfermer, I know you aren't a part of the housing department, but last year you wrote a post saying that you found out there would be more than enough housing for transfers. Is this the case this year? I love UVA and everything but after receiving my acceptance letter, I haven't really received anything else and kind have felt in the dark for almost a month.

Thanks!

And to other transfer students, are you all waiting for on-campus housing or are you all already making plans for off campus housing? I don't even know where to begin looking for off campus housing, how did you all go about doing this? I will only be a second year and want to be VERY close to campus and not feel separated from student life at UVA. And how do you look for a roommate for off campus housing if you don't know anybody at UVA? Any help would be great!

You can post here or my email is lea9qq@virginia.edu. I don't want to take the blog away from the people still anxiously awaiting their decisions.

Rachel said...

Lauren,

Craigslist and U-loop! Most ads will tell you how close to campus they are, and if they don't you can always ask! You can also post an ad saying you're looking for a roommate and specify the type of person/people you're looking for! Keep an eye out for JPA (Jefferson Park Ave), it's pretty close, really popular for student housing, and has a lot of bus/trolley stops. I haven't gotten my housing offer yet either though, I'm giving it until orientation. Then I'll go ahead and start looking...

UVAfan said...

Do any of you guys who are still on the waitlist have a new link under the finances tab that says "QuikPay@UVA" ??
I coulda sworn that was not there before, does this mean anything or am I just being paranoid lol.

Also for the waitlisted students who were already accepted: Did you guys see a $250 Fee on your SIS before you checked your decision and knew you were accepted? Or was there no fee when you got accepted?

Anonymous said...

UVAfan,

I just got accepted and I FREAKED and called the admissions office to see if it was a mistake. The admission official said that it wasn't a mistake and that I was just accepted TODAY. Anyway, to answer your question, you will see the $250 charge pop up after you accept the University's offer.

Hope this helps!

Best,

J.

Anonymous who just got accepted,

CONGRATULATIONS A MILLION TIMES!!! I wish I was in your shoes. Unfortunately at this time remaining on the waitlist is making me lose hope in EVER getting accepted to UVA. I check this blog and my SIS every single day with the hopes of getting in. Best of luck to you all!!! Very happy for you all. As for me, I can only hope for the best and keep my head up. One things for sure is that I will never give up my dreams on UVA!!!!!!! :-)

Anonymous said...

UVAFan,

Thank you so much! It was the most amazing feeling going onto SIS with no hope. When I saw it, I was just like OMG. You'll feel the same way when you get accepted later this week! I'm sure of it.

Don't lose hope... in other words, don't withdraw from the waitlist. You never know what can happen. Just wait it out and see what happens and worse comes to worse, just reapply. I initially planned on doing that.

Best of luck to you!

J.

UVAfan said...

Anonymous who got accepted,

Thank You sooooo very much for those kind words. It put a smile on my face (no lie) :-)
I sure hope that everything works out for me in the end. I hope to see all you guys at Mr. Jeffersons Grounds someday.

Good Luck to you all!!!

WahooWannabe said...

For the past month I've been checking SIS multiple times a day. Today, I go on expecting some notice about the waitlist closing, and was not surprised when I caught a glimpse of a larger paragraph than the one I've been reading over and over again. There it is, I thought, the rejection. As I gazed a little closer, I see the word "Congratulations".

WahooWannabe said...

For those of you still waiting, don't give up. If you don't hear good news this time around, try to make the best out of your current school and maybe try again later. I was already considering what I would write in my essays the THIRD time I applied to UVA.
Good luck to all!
And thank you soooo much admissions staff for this opportunity!!

Transfermer said...

UVAFan,

I'm a little concerned. Wasn't it you who said you saw the request for $250? If that's the case, it means good news for you. Maybe you're just re-reading from posts from the springtime.

UVAfan said...

Transfermer,

No that was not me (i wish i saw those $250). Probably someone else. The only new thing that has popped up on my SIS is that new link under my finances tab "QuikPay@UVA" i was just wondering what that was or if it even meant anything because i could have sworn it was not there before. Though i doubt it means anything :(

Anonymous said...

Wahoowannabe

Sorry to put the request again.Would you mind telling me which school are you in now?

Evaluations said...

Have you guys gotten credit evaluations yet?

Anonymous said...

I got my course credit evaluations just yesterday. got everything but my test credits

*Sigh* said...

I have noticed a serious lack of correlation between the time things are submitted to UVA and the time they make any sort of response. No credit eval here, and I submitted my final transcripts on 4 May, three days after being accepted. I already have today's mail and am in-state.

Anonymous said...

Question? If the quickpay@UVA link is on my page and it keeps sending me to a page telling me how to pay my tuition and how to register as a fall transfer and telling me how to pay my bill am I accepted?
