More info on the watilist

As you can see from a few commenters, we've been making offers from the wait list in a slow and steady stream these past few weeks. Despite the calendar turning over to July 1 tomorrow, we will not close the wait list at that time. Again, I will announce it here when we've completed our review.

Any idea when the wait list will close? Also, how many more offers is the undergraduate admission office planning to give out? It has been two months since I was wait listed and the school I already attend is demanding I go ahead and pay...even though there might be a chance I won't be attending.

Anon,

You should definitely pay the deposit first and guarantee yourself a spot first. If the University accepts you, you can always just lose the deposit.

Ya I had no faith I was getting into UVA and deposited in an off-campus apartment with a friend at my old school. Now that I won't be returning there, I've had to break the news to her and lose money. It sucks, but what else can you do?

I just hope that anybody have been accepted off the wait list of Commerce can post the news here. I am really eager to know that.

Does anyone know if the nursing school has filled all there spots?

Hi Transfermer,

I got accepted as a second year transfer a couple of days ago, but I've already made plans to study abroad with another college. Is it possible to defer admission until the spring? Or should I reapply? UVa is a dream school for me and I'd love to be able to come in the Spring, if at all possible. Thank you very much for your help!

Sincerely,
Ashley

PS - Good luck to all still waiting for a decision. Believe me, I never thought I'd be accepted at UVa as an out-of-state second-year transfer, so don't stop believing! :)

I have a question for anyone who may be able to answer;

What if I was accepted for fall 2009 transfer, but is now proably unable to pay for my education, is there the possibility to defer the acceptance and be able to come next year when I'll be able to pay?

Sasha said...

That is a bummer, I'd call admissions and ask to talk to one of the counselors or deans there. I really feel for you but hope it works out so that you can make it over in fall 2010.

Question? If the quickpay@UVA link is on my page and it keeps sending me to a page telling me how to pay my tuition and how to register as a fall transfer and telling me how to pay my bill am I accepted?

Anonymous said...

Yes, I have the same concern as the comment above me. Somebody please answer.

MyNameIsJack said...

You're not accepted until the "View Decision" tab links you to a congratulatory letter.

I believe the quikpay@uva link is just an update to the SIS.

I love this university so much. I can't possibly imagine going to another. My father died when I was in ninth grade so I dropped out of high school. I served several years in the Marine Corps and finally made it back to TCC. Now I have my associates degree and a dream. Just like to thank the staff at UVA for even considering me, really. I feel blessed for the wait list. Ian Byker

Transfermer,
Is there any date in mind for the close of the waitlist? I'm living in an apartment in NYC with two girls and they need to know really soon if I'll continue living here through the year (which is the case if I don't get in) or if I'll be leaving for VA for the Fall (which is my hope!). Any info you have would be so appreciated!

I have a question. I met someone last week who stated that he was waitlisted for the fall under the GAA program. He said that he would get his A.S. from the community college in August. I looked at the GAA agreement and noticed that one of the requirements is to graduate with an A.S. in two years. If this is the case, how could someone be waitlisted under GAA? After reading everyone's comments, if I was trying to transfer from a school like VT and had excellent grades, I would be quite annoyed to be waitlisted against someone from community college (CC). Face it, CC is less demanding than the likes of VT or William and Mary. Just wondering if this could be true. Why bother with spending money for the first two years then? Just go to CC and then GAA.

Hello all,
I know that everyone is getting anxious. I imagine that anyone still following this blog really wants to go to UVa.
Mr. Barker I hope you get in as long as you don't get my spot. :) E. Andrysick are you in school in NY?

To Anon July 8, 2009 2:08 PM I am not sure but I think a person with a GAA can be waitlisted if they apply before completion of the requirements and if she or he satisfies the requirements and there is space available they will be accepted. As far as your comments about VT and Community colleges I am sure that the UVa admissions office is quite thorough in evaluating every detail of every applicant. The courses at VCCS schools are accredited just like VT / William and Mary.
Are you waitlisted from VT?

Catch you later,
Curious1

I was accepted off the waitlist last week and I paid my deposit last friday. I still haven't been able to activate my email and register for orientation and housing. It has been over 72 hrs. What should I do?

Transfermer said...

We are really hoping to wrap everything up next week.

Ashley, deferrals must be sent the Dean of Admission, Dean Greg Roberts. The agreement is that you must not study full-time while you take the deferral. We do not defer for a semester, only a year.

Anon on July 8, 2009 2:08 PM,

It’s not quite possible to be waitlisted under the GAA. If he or she planned on getting it at the end of the spring semester, he/she would be admitted. There must have been something missing or a concern about English language proficiency.
The agreement states that you must apply within two years of graduating from the community college, not get the associates in two years.

Anon on July 9, 2:00 AM
You should call the admissions office.

Don’t be anonymous folks. Make up a name for yourself. It will take less than 3 seconds to do this. Thanks!

Thank god there is still one week of hope left. Everday I wish and pray that when I open my sis account, I will get the best news of my life...I believe in myself but sometimes luck also plays a big hand.

Still hoping...

I think that if I was going to be offered admission I would have been notified by now. Unfortunately I have not. So good luck to you all and I hope you all fulfill what you have worked so hard for. As for me I will keep on persevering. My Virginia days are not over yet. This was my first time applying to UVA and being put on the waitlist only tells me that they can see the potential in me. They have given me a chance. I'm already in the ball park! I know I will e accepted to UVA next fall.
Once again, Best wishes and best of luck to everyone else on the WL!!

hey if the waitlist isn't closed yet that means at least ONE of us (okay not necessarily blog readers...) is still going to hear that they got in! right? or else it would be closed?
lol there's some good news waiting for someone still is what i'm trying to say...
hm.

There's still hope, guys! I got off the waitlist (in a very good way) last night, for Arts and Science! It took me two years, but it worked out. Chins up!

Ben B. said...

Congrats E Andry,
I guess that solves your apt issues. :)
Nice to know that there is still hope in the last few days.

This is my last try to get in to a four year college, so these last few days have been excruciatingly stressful, but I am sure that just means that I am in the same boat as every other waitlister.

Best of luck to the tenacious ones that remain.

We still have hope. Good luck everyone!!

E. Andry, what are your stats if you don't mind sharing.

I am sooooo tired of waiting!! I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. I'm curious to know if anyone has been accepted to the school of nursing? That's the school I'm trying for even though I know it's a long shot. Maybe UVA is trying to make more space for students since they are taking their sweet time making offers? any day now would be great :) so my life can get moving

E. Andry said...

Thanks, guys! I hope all your news is great as well. There's still hope!
Not sure what you're looking for by "stats," but happy to share some stuff. Great high school and worked my buns off. Went to Oberlin College for two years, studying Theater. Took a year off when I didn't get accepted to UVA last year and worked in Portland, OR and then in NY.

This wait list is a hope and a prayer, I am sure someone more qualified will take the seat I am dreaming of. That being said here are the top five emotions on experienced during my wait on the List.

1. Arrogance- This must be a typo, Jefferson would roll over in his grave if he knew I was on the wait list.

2. Denial- This isn't happening to me. They only put me on the wait list to 'keep the playing field level.'

3. Anger- If I don't get in I am going to write a million strong worded letters to every administrator that has an email address.

4. Spirituality- A sudden change in frequency of prayer sent to the heavens. Probability of miracle 0%.

5. Acceptance- If they would have chosen me it would have been done by now. But... might just be able to pull victory from the jaws of defeat.

I have come to the conclusion that what the administrators choose is for the best in both parties. The best I can do is keep a positive, optimistic attitude about the situation. I sincerely hope some humor about the wait list finds its way to a desperate soul anxiously waiting. Ian S. Byker (if accepted 3rd year-ish)

Transfermer,

If we have not been accepted off the waitlist yet up to this date does this mean that we are probably the ones who will be denied admission to UVA? Or will there still be some more applicants who will be offered admission at the conclusion of the waitlist?

just saying hi and goodluck to the ones that are on the same boat as I am.

If the transfer waitlist is the same as the regular waitlist, it has now been "released".

Has anyone else seen a change on the SIS site? The admissions committee has decided to release me from the waitlist after months of me hoping to be a second year student at the University of Virginia this fall. =/

Does anyone still have the options to remain on the waitlist?
