Decisions will be released on Friday

Please let me put all of these rumors to rest.

From the horse's mouth:

Decisions will be released online, that's through your SIS account on Friday(5/1) afternoon by 5pm. That is all I can give you about timing. We simply won't be ready until then.
We don't send email. Letters will be mailed after the decisions come out.
Unlike last year, if you are a rollover, you will be able to see your decision online.

I'm not sure if this feels better, but at least it gives you more of an idea about timing. Eat, sleep and study for those exams readers!

Note: If you have a question about transferring in the future(not Fall 2009), you might want to hold off for a week or two. Your comment will likely get swallowed in decision commentary and I simply can't reply to everyone.

Thanks Transfermer,

I'm sure another 48 hour wait won't kill any of us.

Yes, thanks again for your hard work and updates.
Just 2 more days everyone; try to take a deep breath and relax - the day will come...eventually.

I THINK THIS IS A CODE! what in the world could it mean?! maybe they're trying to tell us the decisions will be released sooner if we keep begging!...

just messin, folks just remember, dont be crushed by the decision either way, "home is where you're heart is" so put your heart in wherever you are and life will be too easy!

I think this is lame.. I STILL don't get how first-years were able to find out before the "official decision" date. I may be beating a dead horse about this but come on, the systems may be new but aren't they the same used for first years? Transfers get +/- 2 months to get their affairs in order and move etc., first years get +/- 4 months to move, simple as that.
And yeah many may say, "Well to be safe you can always just mail your deposit to another school in the meantime, yadda yadda..." But when you have rent, car payments, bills bills bills it's not that easy to say, "Phew.. it's just $200."
A sour rant I know I know... Oh well.

Does anybody know if the decision will just be a simple accepted/not offered/wait listed or will it be our full decision letter? I assume it's the latter?

UVAfan said...

Ben,
I was wondering the same thing. Because if it's. Flat out Denied/Accepted/Waitlisted I'll just wait for the official letter, it'll be harder on me to see a denied online lol.
Although I think it might be the entire letter, but don't quote me.

Ohh well, just 2-1 days left!!!!!
So anxious!!

Thanks Transfermer for letting us know. This blog has been great for keeping us up to date on the process.

I just hope Friday will finally let me wear the colors Orange and Navy.

To those asking about the statement on the page: For first-years, there is a little blurb on the page that explains your decisions. If you're accepted, "Congratulations" is the first word you see, and then some other stuff about how great you are. If waitlisted or denied, it says something like "thank you for taking an interest in our school, but due to the high volume of applicants for transfer, we cannot admit you into our university" or something along those lines. Actually, that may just be for the waitlist, because that's what it said for first-years last year, so I don't actually know what it says if you are denied...

Regardless, it does say something, so you don't necessarily have to wait for the letter unless you want to. I find waiting for the letter makes me hate my mailman.

Also, I feel oddly at peace now. Good luck to everyone!

Thank you Transfermer.

by 5pm? Does that mean it could be earlier on Friday? IF it could be 2:00pm that'd be great = ) haha because I have to sign my reneweal lease by 3:00PM and if I don't hear before then and I do get that admit decision then I'll loose $1,000.....But I guess It'll be worth it -- just a couple weeks of work.

And thank you for the update. It certainly ends my worry.

I am a rising freshman at college in fall 2009, and planning to transfer to UVA.

In order to transfer, I should retake the SAT. Is the previous SAT matter?? and what month is the best month to take the SAT??

(**because I have to send my transcript and all the stuff that college requires, but I don't know when the SAT score is due, so I am looking for the best month when I should take SAT.)

Do I also turn the high school transcript too??

How can I send the college transcript?? Actually, if I go to college next year, it will be my first year. How can I send the college transcript??

Thank you.

UVATransfer: If you read previous posts by Transfermer, all of your questions have already been answered. If you have not even begun your freshmen year of college, I would suggest holding off on the idea of transfering, because you never know if you will actually like the institution you attend. The biggest mistake anyone can make is going into college already knowing you want to transfer. Give your school a chance, but if it still does not feel right by the end of your fist semester, then it would make sense to consider transfering. (Sorry I don't want to get all motherly on you, I just think that it's important to give your school a chance, because as one transfer said on this blog, "You're happy where your heart is, so throw your heart into your school")

One big thing that high school seniors who want to transfer to UVA do not understand is that UVA does not accept freshmen who are applying for transfer in the spring. You must complete one full year of education before you can transfer, so you cannot transfer until Fall 2010. I'm sorry if this news is unsettling or upsetting. I know I personally was under the impression that I could transfer for Spring 2009 until I did some more research. But anyways, good luck at your institution for next year!

haha i think its so funny how some of you guys try to squeeze out any drop of information, even if it's completely useless... relax lol the decisions (meaning "yes you got in" or "sorry you got rejected") will be out friday by 5PM. breathe

At least I can focus on my exams until the decisions come out. This is going to be a true finale for me because my last two final exams are on Friday!

Do you have a password yet or anything? That was how we checked to see if we had missing items and what not. You should probably figure it out before decisions come out. I've seen people freaking out at the last minute because they can't log on, so you should definitely work on that for your own non-spasticity (I enjoy making up words :).

haha teapotmonarch - i've really enjoyed everything you've said on this blog. i haven't been saying much, but i check it frequently and you always make me a little more calm about things! so, thanks in this chaotic time :)

Transfermer,

How long do accepted students get to send in the $250 deposit? I want to wait and check the decision after exams are done on the 7th. If offered I would not want to miss the deposit deadline and lose the spot, especially since I did not apply anywhere else.

Thanks,
Ben B.

katydid said...

ben...if you can pull that off, you have amazing self control!

Unknown said...

I definitely agree w/ Katydid. My last final is the 12th. I have to know on Friday even if it means I won't be in the best mood during final weeks.

P.S. a little more than 24 hours left! :-)

Beth said...

I'm studying for exams right now and all I can think about is 36 hours from now.. 5 pm on Friday :(

jt09 said...

Yeah.. We will probably get another update saying the 'new' system went haywire so we won't find out now for another week... Quite the optimist eh?

UVAfan said...

I'm so nervous/anxious to knowww!!!
Good luck to everyone! I hope you all get what you deserve and have worked hard for :-)

Anonymous said...

I don't usually post comments, but I'm SO nervous for friday 5pm!

I don't want this to be a repeat from last year's decision. I was so devastated.

Best of luck to everyone!

Transfermer said...

No matter what your decision is, your account will lead to a partial letter.

UVAtransfer,
We normally tell students that they do not need to take the SAT again. Yes, your previous score plays a role in your admissions decision. If you are taking the SAT, you should take it by January for Fall transfer.
The high school transcript is required. Please don’t send your college transcript until you’ve completed the Fall semester.

Ben B.
If you are offered admission, you should have until May 15th to submit your deposit. I would highly recommend that you check your status before May 7th.

Ahhhh yes. The calm before the storm....

Transfermer,

Will we hear before 5?

Anonymous said...

Should we just keep refreshing our browsers all day? or will you give us a specific time to check?

Ran said...

I have been focusing on this blog for a long time but did not leave any message. Thanks for transfermer's hard job. I hope everybody will have a good result.

I now can see the "view the result" option on my SIS but it asks me to check the result on Friday.

ousne said...

Is it true the board spends an average of only 2 minutes on each application? I suppose it's a little late to ask that question.

Transfermer said...

Unfortunately, I can't give you a specific time, but they will be posted BY 5pm and in the afternoon.

ousne,
If that were true, and if it took that long, we would have finished this intense and involved process a looooong time ago.

Transfermer,

I have been accepted into two other colleges whose deadline for deposit is may 1st. This means I am waiting till the last second to turn in my deposit for a slot into either of these schools. Now I thought we would find out our decsions at midnight tonight, however I see that some may not find out till 5. The deposit has to be post marked by may 1st and that means I will have to mail it before 4 o'clock. As you can see this can put me in quite the pickle. Will the majority find out at midnight, noon, or 5??

TeapotMonarch said...

As Transfermer wrote in the post right ahead of yours, they can not give a specific time right now.

Anonymous said...

Just curious, has anyone found out yet?

Anonymous said...

No, everyones will come out at the same time. We will probably be notified on here when they are available.
