Hello everyone,
As the Fall Transfer deadline approaches, I want to talk about the logistics and materials of applying.
After you submit the Common App for Transfer you will receive an automatic confirmation. Please note, just because you have paid the application fee does not mean you have submitted. About 48-72 hours after submission, you will receive an email from our office to login to your MyUVA Application Portal. This is where you can monitor your required materials and view your admission decision.
Now, let’s break down which materials are required and which are optional.
Required Materials:
- Common App for Transfer (including the UVA supplement).
- High School Transcript or an equivalent: For transcripts and equivalencies to be considered official, they must be sent directly from the institution to our office.
- College Transcript(s): For any college coursework that you have in-progress or have completed.
Optional Materials:
- Letter of Recommendation
- Resume
- Mid-Year Report: If you choose to send a Mid-Year Report, you may send it separately after you’ve taken your midterm exams.
- Testing: If you would like standardized test scores to be considered, you may self-report the scores in your application.
- The TOEFL or IELTS is recommended if English is your second language and you did not attend an English-speaking school.
- Architecture Portfolio: This is required only if you are applying to the Architecture major in the School of Architecture (the application will allow you to submit a portfolio through Slideroom). Students interested in Architectural History or Urban and Environmental Planning are not required to submit a portfolio.
