Not Offered Admission?

This is the toughest part of our year.  We wish we could admit all of the wonderful applicants who have applied.  The reality is that we only have so much space, making admission highly selective.  We want you to be proud of your accomplishments and proud of the fact that you stuck your neck out and applied to transfer from your world to a whole other world. This decision is not a declaration of your personal worth or who you are.  It might sound cliche, but one must keep these events in proper perspective.

We do not have an appeals process, but depending upon the length of time you’ve been in college and your desired UVa school, you may be able to apply again in the future. You’ll need to complete a new application. Spring 2016 applications(available beginning on August 1) will be due October 1.  If you post here, please be considerate of each other’s feelings, emotions, reactions and the like. We will delete any inappropriate commentary. We wish you the best of luck.

Is it possible to do GAA after a year at a 4-year institution?
I plan to go to a CC next year (2nd year) and then to attempt to transfer again, but I was wondering if I could count some of my classes into the GAA process so that I can get guaranteed.
Is there a process for this or has it not been done?

Well expected to at least get waitlisted after achieving a 4.0 GPA. I forgot that I was a middle class white man though so I ended up getting rejected.

@Steve
There's this new thing called "Holistic Admissions". You were one a couple thousand of 4.0 gpa earners, so maybe stop thinking you're special for getting a 4.0 after a year of college (psych 101 was tough I'm sure)

Bravo. Affirmative action. Never cease to amaze me.

If we are interested in applying again, is there anyway that UVa can keep some of the documents that we needed to send in with our application so they could be used for the next time we apply? These being: high school final grades, SAT scores, and our teacher recommendation.

Thank you!

@Monica:

This was my second time applying, and while I wasn't accepted, I may be able to offer some insight. To the best of my knowledge, they will keep your SAT scores (I sent mine again anyways, since I was already sending some and I wanted to be safe). However, your transcripts (both college and high school) as well as teacher recommendations, will need to be sent again.

I am working on answering your questions as best I can. Please check back later today.

GAA,

This is possible, but you should check on the stipulations regarding grades below B or C for your respective UVa school of choice. You also must earn 45 credits at the CC. Please read the agreement very carefully.

No one is entitled to a specific offer of admission, be it with or without affirmative action. Once again, we look at your entire college record, your high school record, testing and essays. That said, I will give a specific example. For example, one good semester in college does not trump an average high school record if you are applying as a rising second year. I would hope that such an applicant would continue on this upward trajectory and try again.

Monica,
Thank you for not being "anonymous." We will carry over your high school transcript and SAT scores.
