Please use this post to pose questions if you have been
offered admission.
Congrats! As I said in my other post, you will receive an offer letter
in the mail. Your admissions deposit can be paid online. This goes towards your first semester’s
tuition. Below your online “letter” you should see buttons to accept or decline
our offer of admission. Clicking “YES”
will not completely secure your spot in the class. You will need to pay your $400 deposit to set
it in stone. You can pay with a credit
card (we do not accept VISA) or with an e-check.
As specified in the letter, you will have until May 15th to
put down a deposit.
As far as the next steps go, 72 hours after you deposit, you
will be able to take U.Va.’s responsible computing quiz, officially set up your
email account and register for orientation. Housing and dining information will
take a little longer to come. It is so
important to keep an eye on both your old and new email addresses.
EVERYTHING happens on email. Don’t
miss important deadlines by ignoring these accounts. Your academic credit will not be
evaluated until you pay your deposit and send in your final transcript. This
evaluation is ongoing until summer orientation.
If you decide not to come to U.Va., please be sure to
decline the offer using the other button-- the "NO" button. We and our wait listed students would
really appreciate this courtesy.
UPDATE: We do not have an open house for transfer admission. Our faculty and students are in the midst of
final exams. Financial aid awards should
start going out next week.
Are there any open houses from may 12-15? Or will professors still be around? It would be nice to talk to the EE department first before deciding.
ReplyDeleteIf I was accepted by applying with a Guaranteed Admission agreement, but the acceptance letter has no reference of this, if I happen to not pass a certain class in the requirement, does that mean that my acceptance is thereby forfeited?
ReplyDeleteWOO accepted! I also want to thank transfermer for running this blog it has been tremendous help for the entire application experience. I am so honored to be accepted into such a wonderful school. Also, someone should start a group for UVA Fall Transfers 2014. I noticed there is a Facebook page you can like, but a group would also be great because we can look for some roommate and get to know other transfers. I see the 2013 UVA Fall Transfers Facebook group worked really well and they still use it today.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS FELLOW ACCEPTED HOOS!!!
ReplyDeleteIs there a Facebook group created yet? I saw the page but I agree wight the comment above me. A group would be easier for finding roommates and communicating with other transfers.

ReplyDeleteHere's the Facebook page fellow Hoos !
I have a few financial aid documents that need to be submitted (deadline May 11). If I submit these within the next day or two, will I be able to see my financial aid package before the May 15 SIR deadline?
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to find out which major I have been admitted to? I was surprised to see nothing about it on the accepted letter online.
Thanks in advance.
(sorry for posting in the waitlisted comments section earlier :0)
Hi, congrats to everyone!
ReplyDeleteTransfermer, when will financial aid be viewable?
Someone should definitely make a fb group instead of a page!
ReplyDeleteI also agree with the people above I believe a Facebook group would work better than the page. Somebody should create one!
ReplyDeleteInstead of you all suggesting for others to make one, you could go ahead and do it yourself right??
ReplyDelete*to clarify my previous comment, my remaining finaid docs that need to be submitted are in addition to my FAFSA and css profile that have already been submitted.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Russell,
ReplyDeleteWe do not have an open house. You may visit with us in admission and try calling the EE department. Unfortunately, this is a tough time of the year to meet with faculty due to final exams.
Anon who applied under the GAA,
We review the grades of all of our matriculated students, be they GAA or not. If we are concerned because your grades took a tumble, we will contact you. Feel free to contact us first. But, first you should wait until your final grades are posted.
Thisiscrazy :D,
Send in your supporting documents immediately, and keep looking at your to-do list for any future requests. The sooner you send in the documents, the more realistic the chances are of your hearing before May 1.
FutureWahoo,
That normally takes a couple of days. I’ll have an update next week.
yea is right,
I can't make a facebook group myself.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/707385232652327/
ReplyDeleteThere is the link to the group!
If I take a summer course at my current school, will those credits also transfer with the credits I have already completed? Thanks a ton in advance!
ReplyDelete"The Dean's Office will provide an official credit evaluation after receipt of your final grades."
ReplyDelete^If my final grades will be available after the May 15 SIR deadline, does that mean I will not be able to see which credits of mine are able to transfer? Is there a way I can see which credits transfer to UVA before May 15? I wouldn't want to SIR and find out that many of them don't carry over...
Does putting down our deposit now versus on May 15th make any difference in our housing lottery?
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to another group that's been created:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/groups/716528321727125/
Should I even take the chance on putting the deposit down? My parents only submitted FASFA and I'm appealing, they both were starting new jobs at the time and never had to fill CSS out before for me. Without that it's impossible to afford UVA. Also what are the odds the decision on the appeal comes through before deposit day?
ReplyDeleteI am going to receive a D in one of my classes. I have already been accepted to UVa and wanted to know if my admissions offer will be rejected now or if I can retake the class over the summer (I will get a better grade)and still be able to attend?
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to have been admitted and cannot wait to start. I attended two separate VCCS institutions simultaneously just to complete the language requirement. It made the last two semesters very difficult, but the acceptance letter made it worth it. Unfortunately, I pulled a C in my Anatomy and Physiology class, but pulled off 3 A's and a B. I hope a single C is not grounds for my acceptance to be rescinded.
ReplyDeleteI have always gotten all A's and B's, this semester I will be getting 2 C's. I have already been accepted. Will this hurt me in anyway getting into UVA? I know you accept C's and these are the only 2 I have even gotten.
ReplyDeleteI will be receiving a 4.0 this semester. Is that good enough or should I be worried about my offer being rescinded
ReplyDeleteIf I withdraw from a 1-credit course this semester (which will not make me go below the required 12 credit hours) but am receiving As in every other course, should I be worried about my offer being rescinded?
ReplyDelete@happy
ReplyDeleteIf your offer is rescinded then I'm pretty sure everyone else would be in trouble as well.
@happy
ReplyDeleteI am not sure why you are worried for getting rescinded if you have a 4.0 gpa for this semester.
Will financial aid be viewable for wait listed students as well when it becomes available this week or only accepted students.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know how hard UVA's academics are? Econ major?
ReplyDeleteMatt Janus,
ReplyDeleteYes, these courses are transferable.
12345,
No, the schools do not evaluate credit until you have paid the deposit and sent in your final transcript. The final deadline for your transcript is usually in June. To get an idea of what transfers please see our transfer credit evaluator, http://es-sazwebdmz.eservices.virginia.edu/asequivs.
Daniel Russell,
No.
Allfornothing,
The odds are slim, but you would need to take that up with Student Financial Services. We sent multiple emails reminding students of the financial aid deadline and how to apply.
Anon with the possible D,
We take these situations on a case-by-case basis. You should write to us to find out what the next steps would be.
CannotWait,
No, normally this would not be an issue.
Anon,
This may be more of an issue. Be proactive and write to us about the semester. Tell us what happened, why it happened and what you did or didn’t do to prevent it from happening.
Happy,
Maybe you made a typo and meant to type 3.0 or 2.0.
Anon,
It shouldn’t be a problem.
Apples,
The priority is students who have already been admitted. If you are admitted off the wait list, we will immediately ask financial aid to start working on your file.
Anon,
It might be tough to find this on this blog for prospective and newly admitted students. In addition, everyone is different in how they are prepared and what they can handle. If you took rigorous, challenges courses before coming here, you should be up for the challenge. Here is some information on transferring into economics - http://economics.virginia.edu/undergraduate/transfer
Hello, transformer
ReplyDeleteI always appreciate your postings and comments.
Are we able to see our merit/need-based scholarships after we accept the offer of admission and deposit $400?
I didn't apply for the FAFSA since I am an international student and did apply for the CSS Profile.
Thank you very much!
I've been following this blog since the day I was rejected last year and it feels great to finally get the acceptance letter. Though it is hard to say goodbye to the friends I made this year, I am very excited to start at UVA in the fall. Thank you transfermer for everything you have done for us!
ReplyDeleteWhen will we get an offer letter in the mail?
ReplyDelete@Anon
ReplyDeleteI received mine in the mail on May 5 and am a Virginia resident.
I thought the acceptance letter comes in a big envelope with some additional forms..
what is the foreign language placement test? On the website, students should take the online placement exam before July 1st. Is it required?
ReplyDeleteWould receiving a D in a 1- credit Physical Education course be grounds for rescinding an offer? I received 3 As and a B in the rest if my classes. I also applied under the GAA
ReplyDeleteHow do we go about applying for on-grounds housing?
ReplyDeleteWhen should we hear back from financial aid? Will it be before May 15?
ReplyDeleteHey Transfermer,
ReplyDeleteCould you tell me, or direct me to place that tells me where I can find deadlines for: Accepting certain types of financial aid, updating our financial aid information (for those that have yet to receive their tax return transcripts), and applying for on-Grounds housing?
I have two questions: 1) Do you have any idea when 2014-2015 costs will be available and 2) How will I register for the classes and sections that I need if they are listed as full?
ReplyDeleteHey guys- a ton of new transfers are living at the new apartment complex, which is walking distance to UVA Grounds, "The Flats @ West Village." They offer furniture and pay for most utilities! Plus they roommate match and provide individual leases.
ReplyDeleteIf you refer a friend, you get $300 until the end of May (if they sign a lease).
Here's their website: www.flatsatwestvillage.com
Hoohoo,
ReplyDeleteAs I’m sure we found, we don’t offer financial aid to international students.
Anon looking for the big package,
It doesn’t exist. Most of your information will come to you via email.
Anon,
A foreign language placement test is exactly what it says. It tests you on your level of language ability. Please consult http://college.artsandsciences.virginia.edu/ntsg/fall
ConcernedWahoo,
You will no longer be eligible for the GAA. We will contact you if we have an issue with your grades.
Hoowithoutahome,
Hopefully, you’ll received some information about this via email.
The Redhead,
Financial aid deadlines should be on your SIS account. For housing, go to www.virginia.edu/housing.
Sally H,
Final quotes from the Board of Visitors on the cost of attendance will be released in June.
I know there aren't too many options in this area but I highly recommend northern virginia moving companies.
