Waitlist Update #2

Well, the time has come. A batch of wait list notifications will go out tonight via email. Remember to check the email address you gave us on your application. In due time, your SIS account will reflect this change. Please follow the instructions when it comes to deadlines and procedures. If you are not interested in accepting the offer, let us know. This will help us move along in the process. You will receive a letter in a few days, but you should act upon the offer through your SIS account.

This likely won't be the only day notifications go out, but when we close the wait list at the end of June, everyone will get a letter to say the process is complete.

I will update you with more when I can.

Is there any way at this point to improve our chances of getting into UVA as a transfer student? I've sent in my spring semester grades, etc.

Iwannaknow said...

I was just wondering what time you think these emails will be going out tonight?

Just got the e-mail and I am ECSTATIC!!! First, thank you so much!! Really, this is the most outstanding accomplishment of my life.
Second, what do I need to do about signing up for classes or talking with counselors or is there any kind of orientation?

Thank you so much!!

I got the e-mail today as well. I feel so honored and humbled. Feels great to finally be a Wahoo!

For those wondering,

I'm an OOS 3rd-year and got into CAS

If we do not get any email are we suppose to take that as something?

Alex said...

@mich
I can not sumbit my spring transcript until the middle of June, so I think we still have a chance.

I checked my email just now, so excited I can barely type. Patience was the key, for those still waiting I wish you all the best....

what do you think the reason would be if you havent got an email and they have your final transcript and everything?

what are they making they're decision off of so far?

Casey said...

I was wondering how many letters were sent out today?

Unknown said...

Has anyone been accepted into the school of engineering?

I am so disappointed. I did not receive an email. I feel stupid staying on the waitlist now. I feel like they are just leading me on now. If they can't find anyone better, then they may accept me... who wants to be in that position? I'm out.

how many spots are left in the college of arts and sciences?

Bitter party of one... your table is ready. :-(

BC Bound, putting someone else down for being excited is not necessary. It hurts your credibility in relation to what you are bragging about. If it is true you are going to another college, I'm glad that I will not run into you around the grounds.....Phil from one Wahoo to another WELCOME!!!

Anon on 6/8,
It wouldn’t hurt to email us again with your continued interest. You can write to undergradadmission@virginia.edu.

We are still working on the wait list, so even if you didn’t get an email on Tuesday, there will be more to come.

Alex,
Send your transcript as soon as you can. Like I said, we’ll be working for another 1-2 weeks.

Please be respectful of your fellow readers' feelings on this blog. I will delete any offensive or contentious posts.

Sorry tennis player. Didn't really want you to get hurt with a tennis ball. I think I need a need a nap and a chill pill. Congrats!

I am currently on the undergraduate wait list, not the transfer wait list. However, UVA is my dream school and always has been, so I know that I will do whatever it takes to go there. I was looking at the requirements for a transfer student, and it says that they must have 24 credits. Is it possible for a first year to transfer if they have more than 24 credits completed through AP credit and dual enrollments by the application date, or do they have to be completed at the other college?

Anonymous said...

Will we be notified if we do not get in, if so when will that be. Im in a bit of a bind, need to sign a lease agreemnet for a house at another school very soon if im not going to get in...

Anonymous said...

To Anon from 6/14, I believe it was stated in the latest blog posting that the waitlist would close at the end of the month. They will let us know via mail when that happens. At that point we will know whether we are in/out.

Anonymous said...

UVA hopeful,
AP Credits and dual enrollement classes do not count towards the 24 credits required for transfer. They require you to have actual college credits.

Transfermer said...

UVAHopeful,
We( the collective we) are all undergrads on here. As anon on 6/14 said, the 24 credits does not include AP and DE credit. We are looking to see how you perform in real, post-high school college classes. 24 credits is the minimum, but we prefer to see at least 30 by the end of the first year.

Yes, we should have everything wrapped up by the end of the month.

Don’t be anonymous! Make up a name or alias pretty please!

Unknown said...

Transfermer,

Will there be a second batch of emails sent out before the end of the month, or will all final decisions (acceptances and denials) be sent out via mail at the end of the month when the waitlist is closed? That is, will there be any more "batches" of acceptances sent out or only the two (the ones sent out last Tuesday and the ones at the end of the month?)

Thanks for all of your helpful information!!!

I have applied for the school of Engineering and i have been wait listed. I wanted to know if there is still spaces available for those on the waitlist.
I thankyou!

Transfermer said...

I’m not sure I understand your question Elizabeth Ann. And, I think it makes it worse to overanalyze it. We’ll release more admits this week. If it’s anything like the first-year wait list, it will become a trickle until we mail letters that say the list is closed.

Nistuh, yes, some engineering offers will be made.

Hi I'm applying for sophomore year transfer from NY, everytime I log in to the SIS, it appears "do you remain to be on the waitlist," I clicked yes as soon as I know I was on the waitlist, but then I clicked it everytime I logged in to SIS, will this affect my admission review?
Thanks

Anonymous said...

I think their done with the wait list for CAS at least.

Transfermer, we could really use an update right now :) Will there be any additional acceptance emails sent or has the waitlist closed? Is there anything else we can do to improve our chances of being accepted?

I am on the waitlist for CAS, but I am still keeping the hope alive. Congrats to those who were accepted, ENJOY! Hopefully I will see you on campus.

@ Amanda: I love your additude! Nice to know that I'm not alone *sigh* Although, this is torture, I wish we'd find out either way.

Kris. F said...

@Pili: You're definitely not alone! I'm waiting to hear something also. The process has been nerve-wracking to say the least, but there's still hope. We have a few more days!

Transfermer,

In last year's waitlist you said the waitlist(2009) would be wrapped up by middle of June. Unfortunately, it dragged on until the 14th of July. Is it guaranteed this year that we will not be subjected to any extension beyond June 3oth.

Alex said...

Hi, Transfermer,
I sent my transcript on June 15th because I am in a quarter system, I sent it as soon as I got the final transcript, it was very good), but yesterday when I called office of admission they told me they may receive it , but it is still under processing, and it will last until the end of next week, does this mean I don’t have a chance to get off waitlist, because June 30th the waitlist will be closed?

Thanks
Alex

Amanda E. Bick said...

Congrats Matt!

@ EVERYONE

Don't give up hope, there are still a few days left, we have all proven we are good enough just by getting on the waitlist.

Good Luck...and Keep the Hope Alive!

I too hope to be a future wahoo soon.

In all serious, I think 'Matthew Clausen' may be a troll. It could be a current student that has a vendetta against a real Matthew Clausen, or it could be some other elitist who doesn't like transfer in general.

I may be wrong but I've been on the internet a long time and that's what my gut tells me.

As this process drags on and we all sit near our computer screens waiting desperately to receive our emails, it seems at least to me that being on a waitlist can really take a toll on one's self worth and confidence. I mean, really, we wait obsessively to recieve someone else's assesment that we have finally been deemed worthy enough to attend this institution. I know those of us who never get to see an email will undoubtedly have feelings of failure and disappointments in ourseleves, but I want to say to everyone in the same position I am in that we should all feel nothing but proud of what we are and what we have accomplished. Simply applying to UVa shows a drive and a passion for one's future that will prove useful in whatever path life takes us on. And being placed on the waitlist should be seen as an acknowledgement for all of our positive attributes, not a pointing neon finger to our negative ones. So basically, what I'm saying is if it doesn't happen for you, don't give up on yourself- as hard a thing as that may seem to be in the eye of rejection.

best of luck to all of you, i know my fingers are crossed!

Patriot17, well put! If I don't get that email, I can take pride in the acceptances I have received from top institutions other than UVA. Institutions that may not be "state" schools, and will take more than 25% of out-of-state students, students from community colleges just because they're Virginians, and a large number of legacy students. I applied to UVA because it was considered a great education for a great price! I guess my 4.0 from a top 50 college, amazing grades and involvement in high school didn't make a difference. I should have grown up in Virginia! I still would love to get that email, but know that it may never come. Attending Johns Hopkins in the Fall isn't the worst thing in the world! Congrats to everyone who was accepted, and to those of you who weren't, keep the faith!

I thought the waitlist was going to be completed by the end of June. Can you please enlighten us to what the status of the end of June deadline is. Is the waitlist going to drag on well towards July like last year?

Transfermer,

I am the older sister of a very nervous UVA hopeful. She is feeling all of the normal feelings a person in her position would feel: hopeful, frustrated, sick to the stomach, etc. Here is some advice I gave her and I want to pass on to all of you. You are all wonderful, intelligent, unique individuals. Do not let this process bring you down. It is such a small thing compared to the rest of your lives. It is more important what you do with your life than where you go to college. Make the most of the opportunities you are provided at the college/university you attend (whether that is UVA or not). Your college GPA, the activities you participate in, the research you conduct... are all going to matter a lot more than where you went to school. Be the best you can be, wherever you are, that is what life is all about.

XOXO,

Your "honorary" big sister
