UVA's YouTube Web Channel

Wahoohopeful has been leaving some videos for us to watch. Like many schools, we have our own web channel on YouTube. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/universityofvirginia. The stories come from all types of media and various types of media and events at UVA and around town. Take a look: http://www.youtube.com/universityofvirginia
President Casteen is retiring this year after 20 years as President. There was a big lunch party for him last week and I think that's the first video you'll find.

  1. Transfermer - Thanks for all the great work you do here on the blog. In looking at a question from a previous entry, will it make any difference that May 1 is a Saturday? We're so anxious...

  2. I have a feeling we will find out the decisions before May 1st, or even earlier... :P

  3. Well, Saturday is in 3 days, so if decisions don't come out early the wait isn't that drastic. I am hoping for a Friday release though...

  4. Transfermer,

I'm currently at NVCC in my 2nd year, I want to try to transfer to UVA next year fall 2011. Would transferring to another college right now (RBC) going there for 1 year and then applying for transfer admission to UVA for fall 2011 look as a bad move for me? in other words, will UVA look down upon me transferring twice? I kind of need to go away to RBC for personal reasons and I can longer be at NVCC, and right now I don't think I have enough credits to look competitive enough to be accepted at UVA. Thank You!

  8. I don't think calling the office is a good idea. I remember seeing on Dean J's blog not to do that. its almost here...we can do this...

  9. Im pretty sure if you called, they would just say May 1st. Transfermer would post something if it were coming out early.

  11. Guys,

You can survive three days. I am just as anxious as everyone else in this blog to learn my fate however bugging the admissions office is not going to cause decisions to be released any earlier. Transfermer has been very prompt about updating us and I am sure there will be a blog post about when the decisions will be released. Good luck everyone!

  14. Again, I will let you know if you’ll be hearing before Saturday. There always seems to be a lot to do as we get down to the wire.

    UVAfan,
You do what you need to do. Transferring repeatedly can be a red flag, but we look at everyone’s cases individually. In addition, if I’m correct, you can’t get a bachelors at RBC, so you would have to transfer somewhere.

You are all great cheerleaders for each other. Please do not call the office. Our staff will only say May 1 and it’s best to leave the lines open for more serious inquiries.

  15. What do you think the average sat scores are for transfers???

  16. Anonymous,

A competitive SAT score for UVA is probably in the 600-700+ range. I would guess that the average SAT score for transfers would similarly fall into this range.

  19. I'm pretty sure that they generally release admissions decisions at 5pm.

  20. From what I have heard they usually come out in the afternoon, around 5 or so on May 1st. That's just what I have heard.
