I might be preaching to the choir here, but I wanted to remind you all that you can check your decisions online come May 1. Letters will be mailed as well, but your decision can be viewed on your self-service account. This is not only the place for decisions, but it's where you can view your financial aid award and pay your deposit once you're admitted. Suffice it to say, this is an important place that you should get familiar with before decisions are released. There are a number of the applicants who haven't looked at their account. We sent this email to them yesterday.
"Thank you for applying as a transfer student to the University of Virginia. We noticed recently that you have not yet logged onto your self-service account to check on your application status. As we approach the release of decisions on May 1, we recommend that you take a minute to log onto self-service ( https://sisuva.admin.virginia.edu/psp/epprd/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?tab=PAPP_GUEST). If you are having trouble logging on or feel that you are missing your log-on credentials, please contact the help desk as soon as possible. They are available 24/7 at 434-924-4357 or at 4help@virginia.edu."
Let's hope all of these applicants look into it before May 1.
I can barely take the waiting anymore! Good luck to all transfers - we're almost there:)
ReplyDeletepinknebula, thant was me a couple of weeks ago. I'm even suprised i'm this relaxed though i'm still obsessed with checking SIS and the blog. Hope we all get in...YES WE ALl..Let the count down begin
ReplyDeleteBut May 1 is Saturday.. Will you release it on April 30th?
ReplyDeleteI know we have to turn in the transcript for the classes we are taking now in this semester ASAP if we got admitted. I have a question here. What if, say I got a "W" on my transcript. Does that have any negative impact on my acceptance? Will you even withdraw the offer?
ReplyDeleteThanks.
This will be the longest week of my life :) Good luck, everyone. Like Eric, I'm hoping that since May 1 is a Saturday we may find out sooner.
ReplyDeletewhat is the difference in terms of junior vs. sophomore transfer acceptance rates?
ReplyDeleteWell, I would expect the number of junior transfers to be significantly higher.
ReplyDelete@3499,
ReplyDeleteI doubt it would be an issue since i've not seen a situation where an acceptance offer was taken back. if you are accepted, you might just be required to retake the class but i really doubt it'll affect your acceptancce.
@Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI applied as a sophomore last year which didn't work out. This year I think my chances look good--we'll see!
I just wanted to say thank-you to the admissions office for all your hard work and getting our admission decisions by May 1st. Good Luck everyone!
ReplyDeleteI am wondering about the same thing. Will the decisions be released on April 30th or May 1st. I hope it's April 30th though :)
ReplyDeleteone more week!
ReplyDeleteone more week!
ReplyDeletesettle down alborz :) don't raise the anxiety levels too much...is it May 1st already? Are we there yet? :)
ReplyDeleteLucky for me I have a bunch of projects and papers to keep me busy until May 1st!
ReplyDeleteAre we there yet m0k0na? Drive faster : ) hah I didn't mean to post twice. What school are you trying to transfer to?
ReplyDeleteGood Luck Everyone! I wish everyone could get in! I'm nervous but I'm staying positive :)
ReplyDelete@M0k0na and Alborz
ReplyDeletecan i ride with you guys? My driver is too slow..lol..
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteOf course you can! We have the need for speed...haha. At least I do; I have a feeling (and hope lol) that we may find out earlier in the week... :)
@alborz: I am applying to McIntire. What about you?
ReplyDeleteIt is sheer torture waiting for May 1st! Even though I have my hands full with my current classes I must admit that I check the blog more than I ought to! (A big thank you to admissions for keeping the process so open!) No matter what happens I am sure that we will all have bright futures and end up where we were meant to be- though it would be really nice to end up at UVa. :)
ReplyDeleteOk, so im kind of freaking out. I don't believe I ever got any login information for the SIS account, and I haven't gotten any emails like the blog says have been sent out for people whoo haven't been checking their accounts. In fact, I didn't even know what the SIS was until this blog was posted. However. commonapp.org displays that all of my application bells and whistles have been successfully submitted on time. Perhaps it's paranoia, or down-to-the-wire hysteria, but I'm getting concerned that my application was never processed at all. Is this possible, and is there any other explanation for my situation? AHHHH, I'm getting so nervous!
ReplyDeleteM0k0na,
ReplyDeleteI wish you well with McIntire! I'm applying for Arts and Sciences.

Eric,
ReplyDeleteI will let you know here if decisions are coming out early.
3499,
We’d have to look at your entire transcript. If the “W” is an aberration, it shouldn’t cause too much worry, but that’s a broad answer.
Jr/Sr Anon,
We won’t divide up the statistics that way, but generally, a current first-year student with a strong high school background or current second-year student with a strong college record are most competitive.
Jay,
That’s the spirit. You all certainly want to finish out strong. Don’t let this distract you too much from your current work.
Patriot17,
I believe most of your compatriots on here found out about SIS and their accounts through a confirmation email. You should have received this when you submitted your application. Yes, unfortunately, sometimes these emails go into spam.
Yes, we prefer that ads not be posted on our blogs. Fortunately or unfortunately, it’s not that kind of blog.
If you are not accepted into the school you apply for (Comm School), but still want to attend UVA the same semester, will admissions look into accepting you into another school?
ReplyDelete@Leonidas: I think this is the case, if you have indicated this in your application. Otherwise, I think the answer is no.
ReplyDeleteThe SIS system doesn't care if May 1 is a Saturday, it will automatically update. I imagine that decisions will be viewable right at 1200 AM on May 1, so if you want to know your decision ASAP, you'll have to stay in on Friday night :)
ReplyDeleteLast year, decisions were made available late in the afternoon on May 1.
ReplyDeleteThis is another youtube video; this one is of Grounds.
ReplyDeleteEveryone relax and take it easy these next few days. Enjoy this time in our lives, because one day we will look back at this time and wish we could have the anxiousness, anticipation, and excitement back! Once again, Good Luck EVERYONE!!! WAHOO-WAH!!!

ReplyDeleteI am transfering out from a community college. On Monday, I found out that I was selected as the 2010 Presidential Scholar. I wanted to know whether it is worthy to send the letter sent to me by my college's president to UVA's Office of Admission, or is it too late to submit this type of information assuming that decisions have already been made.
@Bertha: I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but, first I think it is waaay to late and second I do not think being a Presidential scholar (who I am since Spring '09) at a community college is such a big deal. If I am not mistaken it requires you to have a 3.75+ GPA, which is an average competitive GPA for transfers anyway. Just my two cents.
ReplyDelete@ BERTHA
ReplyDeleteI agree with m0k0na. I doubt it would make an difference.
I am applying under guarantee admission, however, some courses I am taking this semester are also within the requirement to meet this guarantee agreement. I am wondering how would this effect on my application?
ReplyDeleteAnyone knows how much deposit do we need to pay once we got our acceptance?
ReplyDelete@Aki: I was wondering the same thing. It's due on May 15, no?
ReplyDeleteLeonidas,
ReplyDeleteWe try to accommodate students in this way if they have requested it, but we make no promises.
Bertha,
You can go ahead and send it. It likely won’t make an impact on the decision at this point, but it could be helpful if you are waitlisted. If it’s something you’re proud of, share it with us.
Yang,
Your GAA is contingent upon these classes. Meaning, you can use this semester to fulfill the remaining requirements.
Aki and CharVA,
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, but the deposit is $250. The deadline is traditionally 10-14 days after you've been notified. Your letter will give specifics.
