I'm the anon at 5:42. I agree with confused. Can someone explain? Someone on the admitted post said she had a 3.8 in high school and a 3.7 in college...i don't understand
Not offered, but I had decided about a month ago regardless of the decision I would stay at my current school. I'm sorry to all those who did not get in.
I similarly had a 4.0 in college, mostly comprised of math and science courses, at a school strong in the sciences. I also received pretty much all As in high school and i was not waitlisted either.
I had a 2.9gpa in highschool and 3.9 at a local community college that I am graduating from this year with an associates degree. I got waitlisted for the school of commerce...
Stupid. Had a 4.18 gpa in high school graduated 6th in my class, was an in-state applicant and also had taken 2 years at the College of William and Mary with a 3.6 gpa and get denied completely. ?????? Oh let's not forget my minority ethnicity did nothing for me nor the fact both my parents graduated from this University.
I'm the one who asked about California people. I have a 3.5 GPA, I am a senator at my school, I have an internship with the government, have tons of other extracurriculars and community service. I am a minority and I am physically disabled. Didn’t get in.
I think at this point if you still have a chance to apply, let's at least see what that missing link is and add it to our profile.
Just wanted to ask, does UVA keep anything on file from the application? If I wanted to apply again is it the same process from start to finish? Thanks.
A BIG REJECTION! I thought I had a decent shot and UVa was the only school I applied to. I tried to get into Comm school and they don't accept admission in the Spring so I guess I will have to sit on my ass for a year :(
I think you might be able to call the admissions office in a week or so and ask them to save your application. That's what I'm going to do probably, but redo my essays and possibly change anything on my app that needs to be changed. I want to reapply for the spring semester and I too had a perfect gpa at a 4-year college, a 3.8 in a very competitive high school in n. va (where they have a cap for students they accept into uva), and tons of extracurriculars/volunteer/honor societies/work experience. I think it might've been my essays that cost me. They like to see that you love learning, huge passion to go to the school, what you have to offer, and just that the school is for you. I think I didn't emphasize it enough. :-( Good luck though I think a lot of us are in the same boat. Maybe we can help each other out when applying again. Keep your heads up. :-)
i am in state and got rejected from UVA but got accepted to UNC Chap Hill. i would have liked to go to school in my own state, but it seems that UVA is more obsessed with ethnicity and diversity rather than academics and activities. it should be about academics not family or ethnic history. good luck to you all.
So I have been out of high school since 1998 and earned an associates degree in 2006. I am currently attending UF and applied to transfer to Comm school. The computer system still says I need to submit testing scores for the SAT's when actually I do not. This was confirmed by someone in the admission office as well as someone from the Comm school directly. Would this error in the system have caused my application to say incomplete and thus have caused me to not get accepted? If so...I object! :) Please advise!
I have been out of H.S. since '98 as well, and my SIS account continued to tell me that I needed SAT scores, but the admissions office confirmed that I did not. They also said that the notice would remain on the account until decisions were posted, but I was still accepted. You may want to call and make sure there was no mistake.
If I am not mistaken by your comment, if we are interested in applying again for the spring semester or next year for fall 2010 it is not necessary to call the admissions office to ask them to save SAT scores and such since you hold them for 2 years?
Thanks again for all your hard work and updates throughout the difficult process.
rejected...
ReplyDeleteSame...
ReplyDeleteodd because I had higher grades and scores than a friend who did get in... weird.. OH and more ECs.
Guess you really do need to have it all if you're OOS and trying to get into McIntire.

ReplyDeleteTo the comment above:
ReplyDeleteWow you definitely sound qualified for UVA to me. What about extracurricular activities?

ReplyDeleteI think you'll fit in well at UNC-Chapel Hill.

ReplyDeleteWe keep applications for two years.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a question about your decision, you may call the admissions office.

Good question anon.
ReplyDeleteNo, you do not need to call to have the scores saved on this end.
Does anyone know how many transfer students are accepted in the spring for the College of Arts & Sciences (out of the total applied)?
ReplyDeleteuvavu,
ReplyDeleteAbout 10%.
