Well, now that we've said goodbye to Labor Day, that last holiday of the summer, you're either back in the saddle or just starting up the fall semester. But maybe you've turned your eye towards applying to UVA for the Spring of 2009.
For those of you who are new to this process, you must spend one full year in your college or university before you are eligible to transfer. Therefore, someone in their freshman year cannot apply for the 2009 spring semester. You may apply for the Fall 2009.
IMPORTANT FOR SPRING APPLICANTS: As we move into our first year of using the Common Application, the process will be differ from years past. Spring transfer admission decisions will not be displayed online. Instead, they will come solely via U.S. Mail on December 1. To apply, please go to http://www.commonapp.org/.
The deadline to have all transcripts, recommendations(these are totally optional) and the application submitted is November 1, 2009.
If we would be transferring into UVA as a sophomore, do we need to have the secondary school report filled out?
ReplyDeleteCan you give me an estimate of how many students are admitted as sophomore in the fall?
ReplyDeleteI have just completed my first year of college at Northern Virginia Community College. My current GPA is 3.7 and I am planning to apply for Fall 09. Any advices or tips you could provide me?
Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteGood question. No, not at all. We do not require this form. I think I will write a post about the quirks involved with being a part of the common application.
Ying,
The breakdown is almost 50/50. There are slightly more students who are admitted as juniors rather than sophomores. Tips are a hard thing to give over the blog. Please check out our website for all of the info you might need. That's www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/transfer.html

ReplyDeleteI applied this past spring (for fall semester) but didn't have enough bulk in my credintials to cut the bread, so to speak. Now that I do, and with a new application method at hand, I am wondering if I have to completely reapply for the spring semester, or is there some way to defer or revise my old application? Thanks very much!
ReplyDeleteRen,
ReplyDeleteIt is a new school year, so you will have to create a new application.
i am a student at vccs and i am working towards transferring over to uva next fall with one full year of college courses but i was a Ged student and I did not take the SATs do you think i have a chance or should i get my associates in science degree from nova then transfer as a junior to UVA under the agreement that was signed by the two parties. Also is the Foreign Languages requirement required for me to transfer either as a sophmore or junior?
ReplyDeleteIf you received your GED in the last five years, you must take the SAT. If it has been longer, it is not required, but STRONGLY recommended.
ReplyDeleteTransferring in under the agreement will undoubtedly give you a better chance.
Four semesters of a foreign language is required of someone who in school for two years. For someone who is in school for a year, we'll look for two semesters.
