Come Visit Our Online Chat tonight!

Tonight (from 6:30-8:30 eastern), we're going to experiment with something we haven't done in years.  We'll be hosting an online chat for prospective students.  Two deans will be present along with a couple of students (former transfers) who will do their best to answer all of your questions about the admissions process and what it's like for a student at UVA. If you're on the mailing list, or you have an application in process, you probably received an email about this. If not, you should still be able to log in.

Starting at 6:30, you can go to this link to enter the room.  Of course, you can drop in anytime between then and 8:30.

Many of you can use your myUVA account to register.  If you are asked for the chat code, it is 1481.

See you online!

  2. I was unable to attend the online chat but I have a question: Can transcripts be sent electronically or do they have to be sent via snail mail?

  3. Noelle,
They can be sent electronically if they are being sent directly from your school's registrar's office.

  4. Hello,

I applied as a HS senior last year. This year I am reapplying as a transfer.

ACTs are not required as a transfer the admissions site says, but I sent them in for my HS application. I'd prefer you guys don't look at them if they're not required.

If you already have them from last year it seems inevitable for you to not look at them...

Is that right? Anything I can do?

    Thanks!

  6. I'm writing my Common App essay component with UVA in mind, and have referenced the school explicitly. Is this acceptable?

  7. Intheteebiz,
You can’t remove test scores from our system. Just know that we are concentrating our review on your high school and college transcripts.

    SaraR,
Yes, that’s possible, but one of the many rules in the GAA is you need to have taken at least 45 credits at a Virginia Community College. If you have some dual enrollment credit, this can be part of the 45-credit sum.

    Wyatt,
The two essays are quite open-ended. We don’t feel it’s our place to tell you how to shape your submissions.

  8. Hey Transfermer, I applied under the GAA (missing the foreign language requirement) but had everything else. If I did not get into UVA this fall; would I be able to take the foreign languages this fall and upcoming spring and then reapply for Fall 2019?

I will be getting my associates this semester; so i'm not sure how that would work since i'd be taking those courses afterwards.

  9. AxeCapital,
You couldn't have applied under the GAA if you didn't have all of the coursework under section II. If you checked the GAA box however, this won't affect your competitive admission chances. Yes, if you are not admitted for fall 2018, you may try again for fall 2019 so long as you stay in the community college system. Going to another four-year for a year will make you ineligible to transfer.
