hey transfermer is it required for transfers to take english 1506 even though they have taken 112 at a vccs? I heard you have to take it regardless of weather you have taken english 112 or not.
ReplyDeleteHello transfermer. I submitted my application on time but I realized I:
ReplyDelete1. Submitted my high school activities along with my college activities-- will this make me appear less favorable?
2. After reading the blog and having a minor panic attack, I did not send in course descriptions. Is it advisable that I still send them in?
Thanks a bunch!!! :)
It is me again and I bring several questions this time.
ReplyDelete1. Do you have a minimum score for Toefl?
2. I want to be a soph transfer from NVCC, do I have to finish all course requirement before transfer? What if I miss one of the requirement?
3. My high school transcript only shows three years of my high school performance because high school lasts three-years long. Is it gonna be ok?
Thx.
If I want to transfer for the fall of 2013, when should I start my application process? What would you recommend for transfer students to get in UVa? Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
ReplyDeleteIs early action for the fall of 2013 applicable to transfer students or first-time fall entry students?

Do second year transfers from a vccs have to attach a course description sheet with their application?
ReplyDeletehello:)
ReplyDeleteI have few questions about transfer.
1.When is the deadline for me to summit my Toefl score?
2. International transfer student need to take both SAT and Toefl or just Toefl is enough? And what's the minimum score for Toefl and Ielts?
3. I study in Seattle community college not in VA. Is there any differences in the application?
Transfermer, hope all is well. We haven't heard from you in a while!
ReplyDelete**Please don’t be anonymous. Please make up a name/alias**
ReplyDeleteAhnuld,
If you have only taken one half of the sequence, you will need to take the second sequence at UVA.
Grandslam23,
1) No, that won’t be a problem, although we are only concerned with college activities.
2) Yes, please send in course descriptions.
3) We look for a 90 or above on the TOEFL.
4) If you are transferring in to be a second-year, we would expect half of the requirements to be completed. If you are transferring in as a third-year, we would expect most if not all of the coursework to be completed.
5) If that is your complete high school record(likely from China), that is all we’ll need.
Anon,
We do not have early action for transfers.
Meowmix,
Yes please.
Anon,
1) The deadline is also March 1 if you are applying for fall.
2) If you are applying for Commerce, you are strongly encouraged to take both. If you are applying for our other schools, you may take the TOEFL.
3) No.
Ahnuld,
All’s well here. We just started reading early action applicants on top of spring transfer review.

ReplyDeleteCan a parent attend the information session with the student?
So if I take ENG 111 and 112 at a VCCS, I wouldn't have to take any English classes at UVA? I am asking this because the UVA website says credit may be granted but students would still have to take eng1506 at UVA. (second to last paragraph; starts with "a note to transfer students")

Transfemer,
ReplyDeleteI am a first semester sophomore and am planning on possibly switching my major next semester from psych to political science. This is going to require me to take some lower level poly sci courses in order to satisfy the UVA department requirements. However, I'm worried that the fact that I have too many low level courses on my schedule and not enough higher level courses will make me look less competitive for admission? Is this true?
Thanks!!
Hello transfermer,
ReplyDeleteI'm currently studying at NVCC and about to finish my first semester here. I plan to transfer to UVA next fall (2013), but I have some concerns about the transferring process.
By the time I apply, I will have finished only one semester here and will be studying the second semester(Spring 2013). Is it possible for me to be accepted? Will you request for my second-semester transcript when I finish my 2nd semester on May 13,2013?
I want to transfer to School of Engineering and Applied Science, but SEAS will accept transfer applications once per year, and the annual deadline will be May 15. So, if I don't apply this year, I will have to way another year.
Thanks.
Ahnuld,
ReplyDeleteThank you for you the link. Historically, VCCS’ Eng 111/112 will be enough for the First Writing Requirement.
Anon,
Everyone has to take intro courses at some point. This will not jeopardize your chances for admission. What is most important is that you take a variety of courses from all of our core requirements.
Phi Nguyen,
Yes, you are eligible to be accepted, but we have to take a look at your high school work, testing and first semester grades. We will only request your second-semester transcript if you are waitlisted or admitted.
