In order to bring structure to the commentary that will come
to the blog, I’m creating separate posts for each decision. Please be respectful of your fellow commenters and
UVA. I will delete unpleasant and offensive commentary.
**Feel free to ask questions here if you’ve been offered admission**
As I said before, your status page is pretty basic. The admissions deposit which goes towards
your first tuition for the first semester is $400.00. Below your “letter,” you should see buttons
for accepting or declining our offer of admission. Clicking “YES” will not completely secure your spot in
the class. You will need to pay in order to set it in stone. You can pay with a credit card (we don’t
accept VISA) or with an e-check. You’ll have until May 15th to put
down a deposit. If you decide not to
come to UVA, please decline our offer on that same page. This will make for a cleaner wait list phase.
We do not have admitted students’ days for transfers, but
you are welcome to visit before you have to make your decision. I can address questions about orientation and
housing next week. I’ll let you know when
financial aid awards begin to go out. These are only posted online.
Make sure to apply by April 30 if you are interested in need-based
financial aid. As I posted a little while
ago, no exceptions will be made with this deadline. If you haven’t completed
the FAFSA, your CSS Profile and submitted your tax information, then I guess you have
some homework to do for this weekend.
I got in :) I love the GAA.
ReplyDeleteAccepted! Congratulations everyone!
ReplyDeleteI applied to the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as the Curry School of Education, does this acceptance cover both of those schools or only the College of Arts and Sciences? If this does not cover the Curry Admissions decision, when will I hear whether or not I was accepted?
ReplyDeleteWhew, now I can just focus on exams for the next week or so!

ReplyDeleteHey Transfermer,
ReplyDeleteWahoo! My acceptance letter did not mention whether I was admitted to McIntire. Does our acceptance letter mean we were admitted to our chosen school?
Congrats to all the new Hoos!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI was pleasantly surprised to login! But now I have some questions I was hoping to get answered!
Is there someone I can speak to regarding the courses I have taken and how they will transfer over? I am a sophomore so will be entering as a junior and thus am concerned about getting my courses to transfer so I can still graduate on time. Would it even be an option to still study abroad?
Also, how would I choose an advisor etc. Is there a student I could be assigned to to give me advice about registering for classes, how to pick housing etc?
Have a great weekend!!
Accepted into Engineering! Yay. How long till we hear from financial aid?
ReplyDeleteCongrats everyone and I wish you all good luck! Maybe next semester I can post in victory, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this blog Transfermer :) I've been reading it for literally three years (even applying as a freshman..just in case) and it's been extremely helpful. So excited that I even have the opportunity to MAYBE see you around campus next year!! I literally did everything I could to get in and I'm so glad it has paid off and all I want to do now is repay UVA for letting me in hahah <3 Thank goodness this is anonymous.

hey guys I made a facebook group for all the new transfers, just search "UVA fall transfers 2012"
ReplyDeletetransfermer, I have a question about summer courses. I have signed up for foreign language at the community college this summer. When I sent in my transcript for admissions, these courses, i believe, were included on it. I signed up for them incase I was not offered admission this time around and needed to go for the guaranteed agreement. I had to sign up for these courses in order to complete the agreement by next spring. However, I am aware that the completion of foreign language through the 202 level is still a requirement at UVA. I am worried, however, that if I take the first two semesters of foreign language this summer at my school that it will not match up with the next two semesters of foreign language at UVA because the course material will be very different because its at another school. My question is that if I drop the classes for the summer and start my foreign language once I get to UVA this fall , will my offer my rescinded? I don't want to get rescinded because my transcript said I was taking them and then i send it in and you see that I have decided to wait until I get to UVA. Also, I will be entering UVA as a second year student. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAccepted!
ReplyDeleteI thought I have sent my finical aid documents, but now I am feeling doubt if i actually did.How can I check if I have already completed it?would it be listed under To DO list on my sis account if I have not?...need help
Transfermer,
ReplyDeleteI read on the UVA website that third-year transfers that want to major in Economics will have a difficult time doing so because it is a competitive major and there are strict requirements. I read the requirements and I can get the prerequisites done in the summer session. My question, however, is that the UVA website said I should contact the "undergraduate director" immediately if I want to pursue an economics degree. I was wondering if you could direct me on how to do that exactly.
Thanks
Congratulations to the new wahoos! As a former transfer I can completely say that UVA is the best decision I've made in my life and you won't regret it!! If anyone is thinking about summer school to get their credits on track I have a room for sublease from June until mid August. It is close to grounds by the corner. Email me if interested at fvm5ad@virginia.edu
ReplyDeleteI'm a current third year at UVA and I just wanted to say congratulations to you all! For those of you who are looking for off-grounds housing for next year, I am trying to turn over my lease for next year (2012-2013), and am willing to sign it over as soon as after graduation. Please email me at mls4rb@virginia.edu if you are interested. I'd also be happy to answer any questions about courses or housing or UVA in general! Congrats again!

Thank you for your comments. I will do my best to answer your questions by the end of the day today.
ReplyDeleteWhen do we pick courses and are there spots reserved for us or are we basically freshmen in that regard?
ReplyDeleteAshley,
ReplyDeleteThis information will be in your admissions letter. Letters were mailed yesterday (Monday).
Megan!,
Make sure your deposit went through on your credit card or in your checking account and keep an eye on your email. Slowly but surely you’ll begin to receive additional information.
Wahoo Phillip,
Tuition deposit fee waivers are given to students who qualify for a certain amount of financial aid. You may request that you be reviewed for this by emailing our office, but ultimately, the decision is based on your aid.
Fg07,
Did you apply to McIntire? We only review students for the schools to which they applied. We do not consider applicants for multiple schools. If you applied to McIntire, that is where you’ve been admitted.
Junior transfer,
We admitted you because we believe you have the preparation to graduate on time. Yes, if you can complete your major requirements on time, you may be able to study abroad.
ChillAX,
I’m glad to see that your hard work has paid off.
Pay deposit,
Were you able to figure it out?
Rising second year,
No, your offer will not be rescinded. It might help to write us about the change.
Tikuer sew,
Yes, check your to-do list.
KnicksFan,
The www.virginia.edu website will take you anywhere, but for your purposes, you’ll want to search the Econ department’s contact list.
Just wondering if it was possible to extend the deposit date. I am almost sure I want to go to UVA but I would like to hear from my other schools before I make the commitment. How do I go by this?
ReplyDeleteFantastic publish keep it up!
