Every year, we create a forum for you to leave your comments in three different places. This streamlines the process in seeing comments and answering questions. Please be respectful of your fellow commenters and UVA. Per usual, I will delete any comments if necessary.
**Feel free to ask questions here if you’ve been offered admission.**
Your status page is self-explanatory. Just below your “letter” are buttons to accept or decline our offer to you. If you accept, you’ll then be instructed to pay the $400 deposit. Clicking only “YES” will not secure your spot in the class. You will need to pay as well. You can pay with a credit card(we don’t accept VISA) or with and e-check. You’ll have until May 15 to put down your deposit. If you decide not to come to UVA, please decline our offer in the same spot. This will help us in our next phase. I will address questions about housing, orientation, financial aid and credit evaluation next week.
Offer letters will go out Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Thank you for all your assistance and keeping us up to date. I am posting here because I hope that I fall in this category! ~=)

ReplyDeleteIt says for me I owe a 400 dollar deposit, could it BE?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteSame here....
ReplyDeleteI have the $400 up on SIS also. Hope that is good news.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that the $400 the SIS is asking me for is not a technology fee.

ReplyDeleteWAHOOWAHHH!!!
Transfermer,
ReplyDeleteWas admission into McIntire more or less competitive than last year?
Best birthday ever!!
ReplyDeleteWAHOOWA! UVA Class of 2013!
ReplyDeleteI've literally waited for this letter for three years. waitlisted when i was a senior, rejected last year. for those of you who didn't get in, PLEASE PLEASE don't give up! :) It's so hard, but it's so worth it to try again.
To everyone who was accepted, I can't wait to meet you all this fall! CONGRATS! :)
I imagine this will get lost in the comments, but I had written a letter asking for consideration to the CAS if not offered a spot at McIntire. I got an acceptance letter, and no mention that it was to something other than McIntire, but also no explicit mention that it was McIntire. Any chance I could get clarification on this?
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm in the same boat, I applied to the Curry school for Communication Disorders and it didn't say anything in the letter about getting into that specific school, just general admission. Will we find out later about that?
ReplyDeleteim pretty sure if u got in it is because you got into the school that u applied to. for example i applied under the Guaranteed Admission Agreement through vccs to uva's school of nursing but i did not get in. && john i think it is to your original school because if i remember right, they wont allow you to change to a different school if u dont get into the one you applied to.
ReplyDeletei could be wrong though- congrats on getting in guys! hope this helped!
Is there an Accepted Student's Day for Transfers?
ReplyDeleteWAHOOOWA!!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED!!
ReplyDeleteSay I get accepted this year as a transfer student (2014) but for family reasons it may not be possible to leave the school I am at until next year, after completing my sophomore year. If I have to stay where I am for one more year.. what are the chances of getting into uva again nxt year. I am freaking out about this situation, best news/hardest situation of my life. Will my chances of admission after my sophomore year be affected if I musttttt be forced to not attend in fall 2010. Or will by inability not to attend next year not affect admissions when i apply again?
ReplyDeleteTough-Situation,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that situation like yours exist at all. However, if you do not attend this fall, and wait for next year your chances may very well be affected. Your grades may change, which will affect your GPA, thus affecting your acceptance. Do not take the above statements as absolutes, I do not work for the admissions office and do not know their operating procedures; what I am telling you are just ideas and general possibilities. Good luck with everything. I hope that I helped, even on the smallest scale.
Alex-
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment. I think I am concerned as whether or not admissions will consider me not attending next year in the possible acceptance or denial of me next year. I have faith and I am sure things will work out, everything happens for a reason right! I understand that grades, activities etc. will change and affect chances of admissions, I am just wondering if I dont attend this year that it will be affected in the decision next year... or is this a complete non factor in the admissions office?
what is the best housing to choose as a transfer student? I was interested in the hereford special transfer housing but a lot of what I have read online said that that is the worst place to live because of its location.
ReplyDeleteTough-Situation,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your situation. I will tell you though that last year I applied for the Class of 2013 and was rejected. I have the exact GPA and extracurricular activities when I applied again this year and got in. So there's still hope! If you apply again next year, just make sure you have solid essays and maybe in your "reasons for transferring" essay next year indicate the reasons you could not accept your offer the previous year and let them know how hard your decision was. Good luck!
@ anonymous, i was also reading about housing, and from what I read gooch/dillard compound is very far I was wondering if they can let us choose our dorms. I'm hoping I get into Brown, but if not I would like Lambeth.
ReplyDeleteJohn,
ReplyDeleteWhen I asked Transfermer about that on an earlier thread he said we would find out exactly what we were accepted to in the letter.
Transformer
ReplyDeleteBy what time on May 15th do we have to let you know?
McIntire, Here I COME!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Transfermer for all your effort and help! I'm overwhelmingly excited for what awaits!!!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! :)
Anyone else having trouble paying the deposit. It wont let me
ReplyDeleteThis is THE happiest day of my life so far... I am still in a state of shock from getting in... I am just that much more motivated to finish as strong as I can with my remaining clases and looking forward to making some new friends at UVA... Congrats to everyone who made it this far, it has been a nerve wracking process but we all survived because we are unique and have something special to offer to the school. I want to say thank you to all of the admissions staff for making this as painless as they could. Both of my parents and my brother in law all went to VA Tech so a little friendly family hazing is taking place but I think with all of you behind me, we can take em :)
ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEES ! UVa , Here I COOOOOME !
ReplyDeleteto all having trouble paying the $400 , seems that UVa doesn't accept VISA cards...
Thank you for giving me this great opportunity!!! I already paid $400 by eCheck and a confirmation email from student Financial Services, but I could not see the decision mail on SIS. What it means? please give me advice!
ReplyDeleteSo excited!!!
ReplyDeleteAny word yet on an admitted students day in the works?
When I click on the link to submit my deposit, there's no pop-up or anything, but the link gets 'deactivated', so to speak. Is anyone else having this problem? And... I hope I don't sound ignorant, but what's an echeck..?
ReplyDeleteOmg I can't believe it. I was so expecting an auto-rejection. Thank you guys for believing in me!! I'm so excited and am still in shock. I can't wait to meet you guys at the orientation and make some new amazing friends! My brother goes to UVa so we're both really happy. :D
ReplyDeleteDear UVA admitted fellows,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, congratulations on all of you! I am so excited to get into UVA this year.
However, not until I paid deposit$400 that I have a concern about not seeing "VIEW DECISION" but "Complete" and "To-do list-Final Transcript" on SIS. Does this mean rejected?! Please share your thought!
@Yoshee
ReplyDeleteIf you received a letter of admission and paid your due, then it means you see in. The final transcript on the to-do-list is for your final grades, that is what they want as soon as you finish current semester.
how many students were offered admission to transfer?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if you can immediately look up your student ID number after you pay your deposit or if you have to wait? Also how do you look it up? I feel like now that I've been accepted and have paid my deposit I have no idea what I'm doing! Haha.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all see you in the fall.
ReplyDeleteStudentIDhelp,
ReplyDeleteIn SIS on the left sidebar in the Help section is a University ID Lookup option
For entering students taking summer classes are the instructors understanding about our need to attend Summer Orientation on a class day???
ReplyDeleteecstatic,
ReplyDeleteI am having the same problem. I am sure it will be fixed soon but it would be nice to be able to secure my spot in the class!
ecstatic,
ReplyDeleteFigured out the problem. My pop-up blocker was enabled. I turned it off and it's working now. Hope that solves your problem as well.
people that were admitted to nursing...are you guys currently freshman or sophomores
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it, I am so excited to have been accepted. Out of curiosity, what were the numbers for this years transfer admissions? Like how many applicants, how many were accepted, and what portion was out of state?
ReplyDeleteAccepted! :) I'm so so happy. I was insanely nervous, even as a GAA applicant. I just paid my deposit fee and I can't WAIT to see all of you in the fall! WAHOOWA!
ReplyDeleteI'm in! But there is nothing at all on my SIS for preliminary aid - it just says "inquiry access denied". What does this mean? I'm worried - will I have to make a decision before I know my financial aid offer?
ReplyDeleteKatie'sGoingtoUVA - I am a non-traditional student, too. Engineering School :-)
@Katie's Going to UVA - Thanks for the help! I've got it now :)
ReplyDeleteThe students calling themselves "non-traditional" do make me chuckle. Because I'd consider all you nursing and engineering students way more typical. I have yet to hear from another person in the College of Arts and Sciences interested in Spanish. Anyways, I think I'm just jealous because I wish I was a smart engineer or nurse! Instead I'll just be chillin' with the natives in Latin America or Spain. Haha.
Tuhablasespanol,
ReplyDelete"Non-Traditional" means "older". :-) Non-traditional students can be well over the average undergraduate age (18-22), have families, be pursuing a second undergraduate degree in a different field, be financially independent, work full time while attending school, or have taken time off after high school. It's kind of a catch-all term.
Spanish is definitely a less common pursuit - good for you! It's a very marketable skill in a very tough job market.
Mel,
ReplyDeleteI got a preliminary aid estimate from by emailing the financial aid department. I think they will actually post early this week.
@Mel - Ahhh that makes so much more sense. I feel dumb now :p
ReplyDeleteThanks for clarifying :)
I have not recieved my paperwork yet in the mail so possibly it is in there ...But do we receive which credits transfered before we put down the deposit or only after ???
ReplyDeleteHi Transfermer,
ReplyDeleteI am wondering what sort of grades would cause you to revoke admissions for students who have already accepted UVA and paid the deposit? Also, how many transfer students per year do you do that for roughly?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI was accepted as a transfer. I had put on my application that I would be enrolling for 4 classes this Summer. I only need 2 to get my Associate's. A counselor saw that I was enrolled in 4 and told me that UVA only accepts 60 credits. Do I still need to take the 2 classes that I said I would take?
Hey--I know I have already found a spot to live, but if you are still looking, look on Uloop.com I have a few friends who already go to UVA who need people to fill up their apartments!
ReplyDeleteHow are people claiming to not get in with a 4.0 On the portion describing not being offered admissions?
ReplyDeleteCan people who were accepted share your GPAs and such. I'm really confused if having a 3.7 with 81 credits in 2 years is enough.
Kinda bothering me.
