This week, the admissions committee decided to adjust the application schedule for Spring 2012 transfer.
The new deadline to apply is October 1, 2011.
Decisions will be released in Early November, 2011.
As we get more information, I will let you know about this important change.
As a current senior, does this mean it would be near impossible for me to transfer? I will have at the very least 18 credits by the end of first semester at my university, along with starting early with summer courses.
ReplyDelete:\...freshmen cannot transfer for the spring semester regardless of credits.
ReplyDelete:/ -- Don't worry, some of the people applying for transfer now were in the exact same position you are last year. But you should definitely give the University you have chosen a chance before you decide to transfer since you haven't even gone there yet. I know a lot of people who wanted to go to UVA who didn't get in or were wait listed, said that they were going to apply to transfer, and then changed their minds after first semester because they loved their university and new friends so much! And besides Brittany is correct, you cannot transfer spring semester as a freshman, regardless of credits. So enjoy the rest of Senior year and have fun doing all the things you need to do to prep for college--even if it wasn't your #1 choice in schools.
ReplyDeleteThanks, although I'm fairly sure that won't happen. I've had this planned for a while--my other school is good, but not necessarily a place where I'll be happiest, and I'll probably commute. I know I want UVa, I'm just taking plan B to get there :) It's disheartening knowing the number of people who did get in and will go straight into my dream school, as well as the number who deny it, among my friends even, but I feel that this whole process will serve me all the better. Can't wait to work hard next year wherever I choose and then be a 2nd or 3rd year wahoo!
ReplyDeleteIs it true that it is better to go to a VCCS in order to transfer in? Would I be better off doing that rather than attending another U next year?
ReplyDelete:/, Brittany and Nicole are right. We've gotten this question every year for years. You must spend a year in real college courses in order to be eligible. Brit and Nic might be able to tell you that the year flies by quickly, but it's important that you give your chosen University a chance.
ReplyDeleteHopeful,
It depends on so many factors. There is no science to getting in and this question falls under that rule.
I should say, "rule of thought."
ReplyDeletewhat was the original deadline?
