The Waitlist

As you can tell, we have just started moving to the waitlist. You can trust the Joker this time. I’m very impressed with everyone's researching skills on the blog. We were able to move to the waitlist a little earlier than usual, but it will no doubt run through June. I suppose I should have used the word “spurts” as opposed to “batches.” These offers will not all come out at the same time, but I hope to give you a date to let you know that we’ve closed the waitlist – meaning there will be no more offers. We will likely make 50-100 offers.

We would prefer that you not call the office to look for transcripts if you are a waitlisted student. We are currently scanning and linking many of these and as you know, everything takes time. Please allow 14 days from the date of delivery. In all likelihood, it should be here, but if you want to check on it, please email undergradadmission@virginia.edu.

We won’t be sending emails, but like I said, I’ll try and announce it on here once we’ve stopped looking at the waitlist.

  1. Transfermer,

Thank you for everything, u really helped me throught the whole process, and thanks for mentioning me in the post LOL. I just have one more question. When is the deadline to pay the deposit, and will I catch up for the orientation, or is there a special one for waitlisters who were accepted??

    ReplyDelete
  2. Question!!
You said it could take 14 days from the date of delivery (transcripts), and that you have already started moving to the waitlist.

I sent in my transcripts as soon as i received them which was may 22. If it "could" take 14 days after they get to the admisions office, then wouldn't you have already accepted the amount of students that you needed? (Basically I'm asking that am i too late to even be considered?)

  3. Heh, so he wasn't Joking XD.

Could i possibly ask how many chose to remain on the waitlist? How many have already been accepted off of it?

    Thank You,
    Wally

  4. Transfermer,

Basically my concern is similiar to Doughnut's. My Spring transcript won't come out until mid-June, so I will not be considered until the transcript is received?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Sorry, i forgot to ask this in my last post.
I keep signing into my SIS, and i check to see if i have been accepted off of the waitlist, but since I'm still on the waitlist, it asks me if i want to remain on the waitlist, and i click yes.
Does this in any way affect anything?

I'm not sure how to phrase my question, but would it cause problems?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Transfermer,
For a statistics course I took in Spring, the teacher gave me a C, which I knew was the incorrect grade. After double checking, he realized he had skipped over a few of my assignments and changed my grade from a C to a B. However, it is still not on my final transcript because he said it would take a little bit of time for my school to go into the system to change it. I am worried decisions will be made before my transcript is even received. Any suggestions? I really don't want to miss my chance at UVA because of a mistake that wasn't even my fault.

Sorry this is so long, but as you can tell, I'm desperate.

    Thanks!

  7. heh, everyone is asking the same question ^.^.

  8. Tranfermer, or Joker.

Where do we check if we have been accepted off of the waitlist?

    Thank You

    ReplyDelete
  9. disti,
Just logon into SIS and click "view decision", if a new h decision came up, it will be shown, if not, then it will be the same page with waitlist thing.

  10. Ok, thank you Joker :D

  11. I sent my transcripts overnight/ Express because i received them late. Is this the right address to do that?

    Overnight / Express:
    Office of Admission
    Peabody Hall, McCormick Rd
    Charlottesville, VA 22903

  12. I emailed the office to check for my transcript and they wrote that they cannot check individual information. If we received a receipt from our current university saying they sent it, can we assume it didn't get lost in the mail?

I probably shouldn't be worrying about this, but I don't want to be rejected due to a missing transcript.

Thank you so much for keeping us updated still!

  13. If you're making a C in statistics then you probably will have a hard time lasting at uva

    ReplyDelete
  14. anonymous..
first off, he said he got a B.
Second, you can't base success at UVa because of a single grade.

That's like saying just because someone got an A in Statistics, they are going to be successful at UVa...

    ReplyDelete
  15. I agree with Wally_N, u can't judge someone's performance in UVA based on a single grade, it depends on ur motivation and the work u put into ur study in there. That's why UVA is a very selective university, no matter how high ur grades are!

    ReplyDelete
  16. "just because you make an A means that you will be successful"

The likelihood of someone thriving is certainly not contingent on every single grade, but you have to be well rounded, that is, meaning that you are capable of doing all subjects exquisitely. The only reason I posted that is because statistics is traditionally a cop-out for people not able to take (real) calculus.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maybe anon is correct. Maybe getting a B in statistics means you're not qualified to go to UVA. Not qualified in the exact same way as somebody who says 'you're making a C in statistics' and that UVA seeks students who are 'capable of doing all subjects exquisitely.'

You're misusing words, but that doesn't give me or anyone the right to assume you're unqualified. We here on this blog don't know one another and therefore are incorrect to rush to judgements based on small bits of information. I think the criticism should stop because we do not need to turn a forum meant to answer question into some sort of a contest designed to make ourselves feel smarter than others. Unless I'm mistaken, which is possible, not one of us, besides joker, who is still posting here, got in. In that sense at least, we're equal at this point. Let's keep it positive.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Not to get into an online battle, but I am not 'copping' out by taking statistics. I am a nursing major who is on a pre-med track. Statistics is a requirement for nursing and I also took calculus to look more competitive for medical school, which I got an A in. I personally think I am qualified for UVA, seeing how I was wait listed, and I hope after seeing my final transcript UVA will think so too =] Thanks for those of you that stood up for me, I appreciate it! Now back to the point of this blog... lol.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is there anyway to be updated on the # already offered already? Haha, I know that is rather specific, but I always want to know what my chances are looking like!

  20. Question:

The UVA website notes that the housing application deadline for transfers is May 29. If a waitlisted transfer student is offered a spot after May 29, what will housing options be for the student?

    ReplyDelete
  21. So says the housing departmentMay 27, 2009 at 12:59 PM

    OOS Parent,

29 May is the deadline for the first round of lottery numbers. After that students can fill out the housing app and will assigned rooms on a rolling basis every two weeks.

I'm losing lots and lots of hope on UVA now guys...there is noo way I'll get in with bad spring grades :'(

And I used to be sooo hopeful.
    Goodbye UVA....

    ReplyDelete
  23. UVAfan, you never know. Only a few more weeks of waiting. It's easy to start feeling hopeless about it, but just forget it and enjoy summer. :) It'll workk out either way.

  24. Guys, just keep ur hopes up and rememeber something, NEVER GIVE UP! You will never know what's gonna happen tommorrow. Live ur life and enjoy ur vacation and don't let it get u down. I never expected that I would get in, but I never lost hope either, and there it was.

  26. I received my grades this past weekend, and I plan on sending my transcripts tomorrow, I REALLY hope this is not too late.

Transfermer is there any date you can put out there that will let us know when to have everything we want to send? (recommendations, letters of continued interest, awards etc...)

    Thanks

    -SA

  27. Teapot,
Thanks for those encouraging words (I've even started on my letter of interest)
Some days I just feel like for me to ever be a UVA student is just a dream, but Joker's RIGHT!!! I will not give up on UVA :-)

I wish everyone the best of luck!!!!

  28. Dear Transfermer,

May I ask how many seats avaliable for the waitlist student in Business School at UVa now?

Additionally,my college is running quarter system and the grade will not be given till mid June ( around 20). So what should i do at this point? And will my chance of getting in be diminished?

    Thank you so much.

I'm the anonymous you just logically deconstructed with your rapier's wit and I actually got in the school of engineering lol. I still check the blogs from time to time to see what all is going on (hence the fact I'm a transfer student and this is a transfer blog)...Lighten up, people! Everyone is so worried about not offending or saying anything that might be construed as - how should I say?- provocative.
Good luck to all waitlisted and your impending admittance!

  30. Getting a B in Statistics is not such a bad grade ... I have many friends at UVA that say it is easier than the coursework my school gave through various rigorous AP Teachers who were once college professors -- on the other hand, I have friends who have gotten beating down by the UVA academics although they were great students in high school merely because they got mixed up and didn't focus on the main reason on why one should attend a higher learning institution. I have taken three semesters of calculus and have received all As, and I received AP Credit for Statistics however, I got a C+ in that class for the entire year, yet I earned a 4 on the AP Examination. Some classes are harder than others, some teachers focus on things that may not be easily grasped by specific students -- so, in the end, please don't gauge the future success or future admissions decision based on a comparision of one bad grade from one class to another and to the overall success at UVA, simply because it is outrageous and not true.

  31. Hi transfermer!

I was admitted for the fall 09' academic semester and I have not received my viewbook yet should I contact admissions? Also, I have applied to Summer Session over four weeks ago, but have not heard back from them either nor will the ID office allow me to receive my university ID even with my SSN and everything entered correctly ....

I was beginning to think my admittance was a mistake, but I received the official letter from the admissions office, I have my UVA e-mail and I have received the letter from the transfer dean stating what needs to be done in order to successfully matriculate into UVA. I just wanted to know if all the viewbooks have been sent out and if you can help me out on my initial problems. Thanks once again!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I honestly think that grades can tell only so much about a students future academic performance...for example, this spring semester at my college i did not do too great. Working a full-time job (a demanding job) at the hospital and going to school almost full-time is not the route i would advice for every student to take, especially if you have a tough time managing your time. Despite all of this, I am going to send in my spring trancript to UVA asap and hope that they can still see my potential through those grades i earned spring semester. One thing that did cheer me up was when a lady at Admissions told me "Spring grades are not what completely makes or breaks a decision for waitlisted candidates"
Transfermer, if you could add to that, that'd be great! Not that i dont trust the admissions people lol. By the way, would getting a recommendation from someone somewhat important from the University (A member of the BOV) whom i know look very good on my decision?

    ReplyDelete
  33. For general edification,

I was accepted as a Fall transfer with a B in "Math for the Liberal Arts."

If your not familiar with the Virginia community college system... the course is what you would imagine from the title.

I did not take Calculus or even Statistics in community college.

    ReplyDelete
  34. However Eliot, when you transfer from the VCCS you get an auto-admission as long as you have the correct g.p.a and grades (which I think is a B average). At least that is how I remember it works. So a B in VCCS may not do anything to your admission chances, while a B in a non-VCCS school could.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I was impatient and applied as a second year instead of a third. I didn't want to wait to complete an associates degree if I didn't absolutely have to.

That said applying as community college student is certainly different.

  36. Out of curiosity, how does admissions feel about gimmicks? I've thought of a funny/cute one, but am afraid to follow through with it. I just want to do something else to improve my chances. It's so hard to just sit and wait not knowing where I stand.

    Thanks. :)
    Lindsey

    ReplyDelete
  37. Lindsey,

I suspect we all start to blend together at some point. We were all in clubs, all had (mostly) good grades, and pursued activities beyond school. I would talk with someone you trust to get an opinion.

    Eliot

    ReplyDelete
  38. That is one thing I have wondered about too. Are gimmicks worthwhile? I've thought of trying some, but have been worried they would be seen as more annoying than helpful.

A thing about asking people is that there seems to be no clear cut answer on whether or not it is a good idea. When I ask people about mine, I ended up back to being unsure since everyone had a different opinion.

Ultimately I think it is risky to do them since it is such a busy time. Send things that end up being more of a distraction might just aggravate admissions. However the feeling that there is something we should be doing to try and improve our chance is almost irresistible.

    Anticipation

  39. Transfermer,

If we want to send a letter of continued interest, would it be better to fax it, e-mail it or print it out and mail it (and if so, to what address)?

  40. I saw a lot of you guys asking about how many seats are available. I called the admission office and they said they couldn't tell me the exact number.

  44. I have another question, this time for transfermer. When are admitted students notified of their housing assignment? Is it the same time as first-years?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Gosh, I am stuck in buying the air ticket back to my home country...I cannot decide when to come back to the US since the first day school of my current university is two weeks later than that of UVA...

    ReplyDelete
  46. ugh, i completely forgot to send my transcript until i read this post on the 26th, and then i have to wait for my school to process the request and actually send it...i hope they're still going through the waitlist when they finally get mine :(

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ran,
If you call an airline, you can likely get an open ended ticket at this point, and decide on the date later, when you know for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks Sasha.I have decided to wait for the decision first anyway. I hope when the result comes out, I won't regret waiting for it.

Can anyone who gets off the list post the result here? I'm really eager to know that...

  52. Transfermer,
I'm sure you're tired of hearing this, but can you tell us roughly how many more spots are open? Just got my wisdom teeth out and was wishing for some good news, but alas...I know there's still a few weeks left until decisions are done, but any indication of where the waitlist stands would be absolutely fantastic.

Again, thank you so much for all of your help and guidance.

Transfermer, will you tell me if the admissions committee will look at it? I just want to be assured that my last effort didn't go to vain and that it wasn't too late to send the LOI.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Transfermer,
I sent a recommendation via snail mail and was wondering if I am allowed to scan that recommendation and email it to the admissions because my teacher had given me an extra copy (with his signature).

Am I allowed to email a recommendation written about me?

    ReplyDelete
  72. how did your letters of acceptance online start out?

    ReplyDelete
  73. My spring grades come out on june 10th and by the time they get sent to the UVa office it'll be June 16th...will that be too late?...DHL is really expensive here and I would hate to spend all that money mailing it just so that I wouldnt even be considered in the end.

    Transfermer...is June 16th too late?

    ReplyDelete
  74. As someone accepted off the wait list, I wanted to offer some advice to those still waiting. I don't know if it is too late but, you could send a letter of continued interest (I sure did!). I recommend the letter be no longer than 1 page (single-spaced).

Here's what you may want to share in the letter: new honors or awards, experiences that you haven't previously mentioned (i.e. volunteer work, student orgs.), and most of all reasons why you want to attend UVa and what you as a student will bring to Unviersity.

Keep the letter short and sweet, don't repeat information admissions officials already know about you, and be gracious!

Give this a shot guys, besides it's the closest thing to an interview.

    Good Luck,
    CJ

    ReplyDelete
  75. Just thought I would share this since there are no new comments. If I get into UVA, my parents are taking me to the Inn at Little Washington, which is supposed to be absolutely amazing. If I don't, we may go to Cape Cod. So, either way I have something to look forward to. But I really want to go to the Inn.

Congratulations to you on your acceptance as a transfer to UVA! I have been reading your posts and have been pulling hard for you! You truly seen to be a glass is half full person and your posts were nice to read. I'm sure you will agree the waiting was worth it! Hope this doesn't sound to creepy, but I've been checking the blog waiting to see if you got in even after my son came off the waitlist late May, hoping to see if you too are a Wahoo! This will probably be my last visit to this blog and I wish all of you the best. I didn't think it would ever happen that I would have a child attend the University of Virginia. I am so proud of him for working hard and achieving one of his goals, despite the incredible odds against it. Continue to follow your dreams and never, ever give up!

Congratulations on your acceptance. I know it is well deserved. I hope that you will continue, from time to time, to post your encouraging words. It has been helpful hearing the concerns/ comments/ questions of others, but your posts have been a step above.

    Regards,
    Ben B.

  109. OH teapot i am so glad you got IN! and sasha and everyone else that is really exciting :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Thanks, Katydid! Are you still waiting to hear? If so, I wish you the best of luck!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Does anyone know about on-campus housing? It won't let me go to the housing application. Am I just not waiting long enough or are spots no longer available? Man, I want my information packet to come...

    ReplyDelete
  112. they update the housing information system weekly..so just keep checking back. The lady I emailed said that new people will probably be on the waitlist for housing.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Thanks, anon! I will definitely keep checking back.

    ReplyDelete
  114. teapot,
It's been a week since I got in and am yet to get my information packet or even my official letter, for that matter. No worries though, as most information seems readily available online.

    ReplyDelete
  115. My spring grades are out but my university will not release or send any transcripts before July 1...
I emailed admissions and they told me theyre not going to accept any unofficial transcripts mailed by me and that I should just send the final official transcript whenever its ready...
It wont arrive to Uva before July 6...which I assume the admissions process will be done by then

...what do I do?...is it officially over for me?

    does anyone have any suggestions?

...btw, im transferring as a third year student into the department of architecture, BSc in Architecture

    ReplyDelete
  116. Hopeless,

I too am anxiously waiting to get off the waiting list. Maybe they will look at other factors besides the spring grades. Also, did you send an updated letter of interest?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Hopeless,

Don't worry. A few days ago, I emailed an admission conselor and she told me that they tried to give out all the decisions no later than mid July which means there is still hope for you. Just hold on and you'll get what you deserve.

Good luck to everyone who are still waiting. I'm waiting as well..haha

    ReplyDelete
  118. Wondering if I messed something up... When I logged into the housing site, my information came up as "School & Year:
College of Arts & Sciences Year 3"
Does the year 3 actually indicate third year or something else? Because I'm a second year, so if it is supposed to be our actual year, I should call in.

Well, will call in tomorrow to check, but figured I'd ask in case it happened to someone else as well.

    ReplyDelete
  119. So I just found out I got in! I was on my way to bed and just decided to check again - and the next thing I knew, I saw I owed 250.00 dollars and I clicked on view decision - and there it was! So to all the transfers still on the wait list, don't give up yet! I know I got to a point where I just wanted to give up and forget about UVA, but I'm so glad I didn't. And just so people know, I did send in a letter of continued interest just in case people haven't and are contemplating it. I am pretty sure that with my good spring grades helped a lot! So keep your heads up and keep hoping for it!

Oh and I'm going into the College of Arts and Sciences =]

    ReplyDelete
  120. @ teapot

I'm a second year but the 3rd year thingy came up on my housing application as well...maybe its just like that

    ReplyDelete
  121. banh and Teapot: how did you view your housing assignment? When you logged on, did it tell you to wait for an email to be sent out, or did it allow you to view your assignment? Also, mine says "Year 3" as well, so I don't know what that's all about.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  122. i only filled out the application. still have to wait for housing assignment email =|

    ReplyDelete
  123. hey everyone, so I just called housing and placed myself on the waitlist but who knos if we will get housing so I'm looking into off-grounds housing and I will need two other roomates.

    Anyone intersted?

    ReplyDelete
  124. hey guys,

as i keep on checking the blog I have to admit I am losing more and more hope about getting in. It seems like everyone on this blog as gotten in so maybe if I keep writing it will bring me good luck. :)

    ReplyDelete
  125. Pauline, which school do you want to get in? I guess some schools haven't started enrolling students from waitlist yet, like nursing...

    ReplyDelete
  126. Hey guys! For all the second years listed as third on housing, I emailed the office and they said that meant they listed you as a third year. She said she fixed it for my account, so you may want to email to make sure you're listed correctly (if it said the wrong year on your assignment). I emailed housing@virginia.edu.

And good luck to those on the waitlist! It's still early in June!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Ran,

Does that mean they haven't decided they will need to take students off the waitlist? Or they just have not moved to the waitlist yet? I applied to the nursing program and have not heard yet either. I am still staying hopeful though. I am going to send another letter of interest, what is the best way to send it do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Praying4UVA...

Did you get into the nursing program at UVA? If so what school are you coming from?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Actually I'm not sure about whether they have moved to the waitlist of nursing. But as far as I see now from the blog, all accepted students are from Art & Science except one from engineering.
One admission counselor once told me that they are still going through the application for all school. My guess is that Nursing school or other schools will only accept a few students off the waitlist, not as much as Art and Science. Therefore, they would probably wait for all students to send their materials to ensure the fairness.

You said you want to send another letter of interest? Does it mean you sent one before? If you did, I suggest you not do that. I emailed that counselor and mentioned that I wanted to send another letter. But she said one is sufficient. But if you insist, I guess mail is the best option.

Well, since I'm not accepted yet, I can't guarantee you that my opinion can help you. Maybe you can contact some officials.

Good luck. I hope we can meet in UVA next semester.

    ReplyDelete
  130. If you do want to send new information, I sent in a letter of interest, but then I also sent in information that I had not sent in before (like awards, contests, etc.). Maybe that would be more appropriate than another letter of interest. I don't know how much either of those helped me off the waitlist, but if you do want to do something extra, that's an option.

    Best of luck!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Teapot

The first letter I sent was to give them more information, but the letter I want to send is of my interest to attend UVA. I don't know, thought it may help my chances a bit. :/

    Congrats by the way!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Oh, ok. Well, I personally don't think it can hurt to send in a letter of intent. I've heard they don't consider them (from when I called into UVA), but I doubt it will hurt. I honestly don't know though. It really is up to you. And although, mail is probably the best option, time is of the essence right now since the end of June is approaching, so you may be better off emailing it just so you know it gets there in time.

Again, I really don't know, this is all purely speculation and opinions. Good luck again!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Ran,

I applied to Arts and Sciences. I don't know it's just really stressful seeing all of these "Hurray i got in!" and not getting one. And i know they got my transcript i emailed them asking so it's not that. :( boo waiting

    ReplyDelete
  134. Nursing,

I agree with Teapot, if you have something new and important, you should send a second mail.

    Pauline,

Don't worry, you will be fine. My situation is worse since McIntire would admit less than 5 or even 0 student from waitlist. But I would always hope for the best.
I just hope the result can come out more quickly since I have booked the ticket to go back on July 2nd.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Hey everyone! Good luck to everybody still on the wait list...I hope you get in :)

For us ex-wait listers though, we are all placed on the on-grounds housing wait list. From what I know anout UVa, they don't have alot of housing and they accepted/accepting more people then they have "spots" for.

This means we need to try to find off-grounds housing. If you are interested rooming or if you already have a place and need a roommate, let me know. I'm on facebook and I posted about this on the Transfers Fall 09 group.

See you all in the fall :)

  136. How many get housing?June 11, 2009 at 1:12 PM

Yikes... I'm getting worried about on-Grounds housing! I spoke to the housing office and was told transfer assignments will be sent out sometime next week. I asked if "most" transfer students who apply for on-Grounds housing before the deadline get any offer, and was told "not necessarily, no." I was accepted with the first batch (1 May) so I submitted my housing early, but I'm getting worried....

  137. Looks like transfermer has finally given up on this blog.I have many of the same questions that has already been asked but unfortunately still no response from transfermer.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Still waiting,
I'm sure Transfermer is just busy right now with finalizing the waitlist and everything. Have you checked the blog thoroughly to make sure your questions haven't already been answered?

    ReplyDelete
  139. any hope for those of us still waiting for news?

    ReplyDelete
  140. ah, that's what i want to know :( esp because my grades took a dip second semester..

    ReplyDelete
  141. pauline & others: i haven't been accepted (yet) either...still reading, still checking, still hoping!

still waiting: i guess my email is attached when i comment, and i got an automatic email from transfermer (under her real name) saying that she would be out of the office until june 18! i'm sure she'll respond when she gets back

    ReplyDelete
  142. It seems that other officials are away as well. I emailed another admission counselor yesterday and she said she would be not be back until 19th..gosh.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Just kind of wondering, what are all you students who were on the wait list but have been admitted going to do for housing? on campus housing is not really an option, and it seems like finding roommates for an apartment is rather tough.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Sasha, I was thinking the exact same thing about housing. I don't even know what to do about it. But I looked up the blog from last year and there was the same concern for transfers then and transfermer told them towards the end of June/beginning of July (I don't quite remember) not to worry because there would be enough on campus housing although they were hearing there wouldn't be. I hope the same thing will be true this year.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Does SIS immediately tell you you're rejected by the admissions board, or are they holding out all the "no's" until the end? I haven't heard about anyone being rejected.. I'm so nervous.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Here's the link to that by the way, http://uvatransferadmission.blogspot.com/2008/06/housing-for-transfers.html

-So let's hope this happens this year!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Thanks for that! Again, best of luck to all the wait listers, I know the feeling too well and hope everything works out for you.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I was accepted on 1 May and still don't have any sort of single information packet. I don't even know that there is one... have not gotten anything from housing, and got the orientation booklet but that is available in its entirety online. The only other thing I can think of is a Cav Computers packet I got today. But I wouldn't be waiting for any one big thing. :)

  149. Anybody accepted by Commerce by now?

  150. Waitlisted Away Again in AdmissionsvilleJune 12, 2009 at 8:50 PM

    Hey Y'all,

There are still quite a few days left in June, don't give up hope yet.

As far as the newcomers looking for housing no need to fret so much. I am sure in the next 2.5 months you will be able to find a place. If you are not familiar with the area and plan on living off grounds I would strongly recommend visiting several areas at different times of the day before signing a lease anywhere. I know this sounds silly but some people sign a lease sight unseen and regret it.

    Ziploc,
I think the rejections will be sent in bulk once the class is full.

    Waiting Nervously,
I have not heard about any movement on the McIntire School list, but that is not saying much. Keep your head up.

    Continued luck to all,

    Waitlisted Away Again in Admissionsville

Question to those who have been accepted off the waitlist-- how long after you found out you were accepted on SIS did you receive the admission/acceptance packet in the mail? I paid the deposit almost immediately (guess I was a little too excited), and did not save the short acceptance letter posted on the SIS (is there anyway to read this again once the deposit is paid?), so I'm forgetting the details as to when I should receive it in the mail.

    ReplyDelete
  152. so... if you type your name and search at virginia.edu, it shows your name, e-mail, number, etc... but what's difference between kasu and clas? my sister is in college of arts and science and so am I, but her's says college of arts and science-kclas, mine says college of arts and science-kasu, and my friend's says college of arts and science-jclas. What's difference o_O

    ReplyDelete
  153. Transfermer,

I am curious, if on campus housing becomes unavilable will this affect the admissions decision of students who are still on the wait list and have applied for housing.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Is there anybody else still waiting for Commerce?
I hope I am not the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Does anyone know if UVA has offered all of the available spots in the Arts and Sciences college? I applied to the Arts and Sciences and am yet to hear if I will get off the waitlist. I had a 3.9 first semester and a 4.0 second semester! Hope I get in!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Is SIS down for anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  157. Mine's working. Maybe it was just down for a bit?

    ReplyDelete
  158. TeapotMonarch,

I've been coming back to this blog every few days to see if you got off the waitlist. I am so happy for you and look forward to bumping into you at the University (I'm a third-year transfer but I'm sure paths cross regardless).

    Cheers.

    ReplyDelete
  159. just checking around but for the fall of 2009 so far there are 575 transfers on the transfersfall2009 mailing list....and last year 588 students enrolled.......

    ReplyDelete
  160. i'm not getting in... sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  161. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I'm quite hopeless now. It has been the mid June....

    ReplyDelete
  163. I was not pulled off of the waitlist last year and the rejection letter was dated June 20th. As Anon points out if the mailing list is close to last years size then I would imagine that most offers have been sent but that there is still a handful that are in limbo. I just hope that mine is one of those.

    Good luck to all.

  164. How college admissions work will always remain a mystery to me!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Goofball,

Last year were you waitlisted as a freshman or as a transfer?

    Anticipation

    ReplyDelete
  166. Is there anyone now off the list of Nursing?

    ReplyDelete
  167. i'm still waiting to hear from nursing too. i dont know of anyone who has gotten off the waitlist yet :(

    ReplyDelete
  168. Anticipation,

I was waitlisted as a transfer so this is my last chance to get into the College. I may wait a year and apply to the BIS program but even that is no guarantee.
I agree with you. I have no idea how college admissions works. I don't understand how everything at UVa is so orderly but they have a waitlist that is not ranked or why they can not bring back early decision just for transfer students. I would think that would eliminate some of the applicants who are applying for schools just to see where they could go. I'll hop off the soapbox now.

Anyways I have about 2 weeks of hope left. Then it's back to square one.

    -Goofball

    ReplyDelete
  175. Are they done giving out offers....? Or is there still a chance?

    ReplyDelete
  176. That's what I'm wondering -- it'd be nice to know some of the numbers from this years waitlist. Number accepted, number in limbo -- spots to fill thus far, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  177. College of Arts and Sciences..majoring in Chemistry.

Sorry if it took a while for me to respond..i dont really come on this blog that often.
