With the information floating around on Dean J's first-year blog, there seems to be confusion about the transfer waitlist. Let me see if I can clear things up. And I apologize for repeating myself in some places.
-The transfer waitlist is independent of the first-year waitlist. It's a completely separate road on this map of the admissions process.
-The waitlist is not ranked. There are no opportunities to "jump or bump up" your position.
-Like I've said before, you must send in your spring grades(if you were in school in the Spring of 08) if you want even the smallest chance of getting off of the waitlist.
-You may also send us notice of any awards or honors you have won since you applied. And you may also send additional recommendation letters. Any of this sent to us past mid-June will likely improve your chances.
-We will not begin to look to see what we can do with the waitlist until early June. We have no idea of the numbers that might come off of the waitlist as we have just begun to process deposits of the students who have taken us up on our offer.
-Waitlist decisions will be released anywhere from mid to late June.
There was a comment a few weeks ago inquiring about the 3rd year nurses finding decisions on the waitlist, due to a June 9th start. This will likely be a little different and we hope to notify you at the end of May.
That is excellent news. How should I have instructors send in letters of recommendation?
ReplyDeleteTom: if you filled out a paper copy, there should be some worksheets that your instructor can fill out with an envelope addressed to UVA. On the other hand, if you filled your application out online, on the main menu there's a link for instructor recommendations. Once you receive approval from your instructor, fill out the information and the UVA Admissions department will send them the necessary forms to fill out.
ReplyDeletegreat news
ReplyDeleteFor those that are transferring and looking for housing. I have a sublease opportunity for you in "The V" which is absolutely the nicest place to live off grounds. It is literally steps from the corner. For more information please call Bill at 256-682-2058
ReplyDeleteNo! Wait! There are no recommendation forms in our paper application. There is one form for HS counselors, but obviously, this does not apply to you all.
ReplyDeleteIf you are having a recommendation written for you, recommenders can send a simple letter to the Office of Admission, P.O. Box 400160, Charlottesville, VA 22904
The online recommendation function is no longer available.
Perhaps this has already been answered, but I am wondering: I have sent in my deposit, the website says it has been received-- now what? Am I supposed to be doing something or do we have to wait until another packet comes in the mail? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIf the wait list isn't ranked, how does the school go about pulling students from the list once they go back to it in June? I'm just interested in how this process works.
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch!
uva10 i am wondering the same thing.
ReplyDeletewhy is it taking so long to receive more information?
if the additional rec is not sent until AFTER mid-june, then how will it be considered when you also state that decisions will be made starting mid-june ?
ReplyDeleteMy school is on quater system and the spring quater ends in the second week of June. So, there is no way I can send transcript before the third week of June. Is this going to cause disadvantage?
ReplyDeleteHow come I have not received a MyUVa book? I looked at the pdf file online and it says the deadline for a lot of things is May 30th. Can I go ahead and activate a computing ID even though I have not received the book in the mail??
ReplyDeletehey confused! i just activated mine with out the MyUVA book. you can activate it as long as your deposit has been received. i just can't remember the page where I went to, but you can just search for it in the site. hope it helps. i'm just worried about housing application.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link for MyUVA book: http://www.virginia.edu/orientation/myuva/
ReplyDeleteI was able to go ahead and activate my account, although I'm not sure if I did it correctly. There's also a link to send in the housing application, due May 30, but I wasn't able to get that to work.
I have the same problem with the housing and I am worry too because the deadline is May 30.
ReplyDeletethanks whyyesiamgoingtouva!
ReplyDeletei just activated my account!
and for people who are worried about housing email housing@virginia.edu
they will send you pdf file of the agreement which you can fax in and you can pay the deposit over the phone using your mastercard or visa.
The title of this blog is waitlist information and for those of you who are dealing with your uva book problems you should be using the offered admission blog... students who are waitlisted look for the blog count to increase with potential news from the admission office...not admitted students talking about finding a place to live
ReplyDeleteAMEN to the previous comment. You're exactly right, we waitlisters DO check here OFTEN for any information that might be posted. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much whyyesiAMgoingtouva
ReplyDeleteI just activated my e-mail as well.
Thanks :)
Yeah...as you know... news posted by Transfermer is really important... those of us who need to know when they are starting to go to the waitlist keep seeing your post then thinking that maybe there is new information about it!
ReplyDeleteGIMME MY PACKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete^^ qft.
ReplyDeleteI got my email address though~
I'm pretty sure the Office of Admission doesn't have any control over the packets.
ReplyDeleteupdates are surely not found in this sea of comments. it will be delivered as an entry, unless someone asked a question and it was directly answered through comments. also, people are too lazy to go to the right page to ask their questions. well, it seems practical for them to post their questions here. so why are we ranting about this in the first place?
ReplyDeleteHow can I sign up for Summer Orientation if I have not received MyUVA book yet?
ReplyDeleteMy deposit was processed one week ago.
Registration is due on May 30
Transfermer-
ReplyDeleteWho can I contact for info about orientation? My question is whether or not transfers could go to another orientation session; the two that are scheduled for CLAS transfers are on a weekend that my family is going to the beach. If you could point me in the right direction, that'd be great! Thank you.
