This year, we received a little over 2200 applications for all six schools. Keep in mind that we are still reviewing some applications, but all will be finalized by tomorrow evening. Across all schools, on the whole, we offered to close to 30% of the applicants. As you've seen in an earlier post, schools like Commerce and Architecture have a much smaller admit rate. These run the gamut between 10 and 15%. There are about 400 students on the waitlist. But all are reviewed within the school in which they applied. It is likely that not everyone will elect to stay on the waitlist, so this number might go down.
It is highly likely that we will go to waitlist, but the numbers depend on the number of students who accept our offer of admission. Some years, we've taken 50. Some years we've taken 100. Again, it depends on the number of students taking our offer. If you wish to stay on the waitlist, you must either indicate online or send in the card to tell us that you would like to stay. If you don't send it in, we will not look at you again. You should also send your spring grades and notice of any awards/honors you've recieved since you applied. Please send the transcript at the completion of the semester. You'll find the address on our website. Sending the transcript is essential.
I just thought of a question I had. I believe when I admitted my application (can't be sure) that I stated that I was interested in the dual Master/Bachelor's program through the Curry School. I've been accepted to the School of Arts and Sciences, but does that mean I've been accepted into the program as a whole?
ReplyDeleteI submitted my Transfer Application for the McIntinre School of Commerce. I also indicated that I wanted to be considered for the College of Arts and Sciences if I were not accepted into McIntire. I have now been Wait Listed. My question is whether I have been Wait Listed only for McIntire or would I also be considered Wait Listed for the College as well? I am concerned that the fact I listed McIntire as my primary choice has eliminated my being considered for the College. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWhat were the statistics for the nursing school? Can you tell us how many applied or what percentage were admitted?
ReplyDeleteWhen is the deadline to accept admission?
ReplyDeleteHello Transfermer.
ReplyDeleteI have been accepted to the college of arts and sciences and I have a question about summer school.
I am a community college student and I am about to complete my first year. I realize that once I am at UVA that I cannot take summer classes at the community college. But am I able to take a summer class this summer and still have it count toward credit at UVA (assuming that I have already accepted admission and what not) or can I not matriculate once I have accepted admissions?
Hi Transfermer--
ReplyDeleteI am currently on the waitlist for the School of Nursing. I was just wondering if there is a different time frame for the Third Year Transfers since classes start on June 9th. Or, will all waitlisted students receive notification during the 3rd week or so of May?
When will the decisions for those who's notification was delayed until April 30 be made available online?
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for the decisions too!
ReplyDeleteTransfermer,
ReplyDeleteI have yet to get my decision online. Should I be worried or has it been pulled back for the April 30th applicants?
Seriously, what is going on? Why can't we see the decisions? When will be able to see them?
ReplyDeleteI am still waiting also. I've looked at the status page one hundred times in the last five days. Still nothing even after the deadline. This is killing me! I thought I might be the only one. Glad to see some others still waiting. I still have a chance...
ReplyDelete3 hours after the deadline... nothing!
ReplyDeleteI have to work early in the morning. Guess I'll just have to check again tomorrow evening.
ReplyDeletewe are the forgotten applicants... what schools are we waiting to here from. school of nursing here
ReplyDeleteComm School
ReplyDeletecomm school
ReplyDeleteTransfermer, where are you? I won't you say something? When will I be able to see the decision? What is going on?
ReplyDeleteStill nothing. Carefully note the time plz, 5am here ;)
ReplyDeletestill nothing
ReplyDeleteNothing here either. I've been accepted to a bunch of other schools, but man, this is killing me.
ReplyDeleteOh How I love U.Va., one more exam and the deal is sealed!
ReplyDeleteI called the Adm. Office and they said 5pm today. Hmmm, it would be nice to just here from somebody...
ReplyDelete6:18 here and still nothing. I'm a patient person but not with something like this.
ReplyDeletejust to clarify, everyone who has not received their decisions are waiting on Commerce?
ReplyDeleteI also called earlier and the admissions office stated that I was one of ~12 who's decisions were not out for Commerce.
how soon will we get our student ID and email after we send our deposits??
ReplyDeleteI applied to the school of Commerce and I have no response yet.
ReplyDeleteI haven't submitted my application yet. Am I too late to submit it? What are your thoughts on transferring in winter.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't I get response from UVA yet?It is May 2nd, I am still waiting for decision from ARTand Science school
ReplyDeleteIs there something wrong with my application? How weird it is.
There are about 60 students out of 2200 who do not have decisions at this point. There are a variety of reasons why they are being held and there are a variety of schools being held. We apologize for the hold up in the notification process, but hope to have all of the decisions out early next week. Many of you have called the office due to your received status, and that's fine. The status will not change over the weekend, so don't worry about checking.
ReplyDeleteThese applications are being reviewed the same way others were reviewed, but are in a holding pattern for one reason or another.
I'll be back to answer your other comments.
if we applied online, got waitlisted, and accepted our waitlist spot online, do we have to send in the post card that came to us in the mail as well??
ReplyDeleteWhat is the possible reason for holding these application?
ReplyDeleteTransfermer,
ReplyDeleteNot to beat a dead horse, but can you offer any more information on why these applications are being held? Can the students do anything about it? I'm just wondering if there are actual problems with the applications or if these are applications being held to see what students say about what school they want to attend. I know some students have been asked if they would like to attend a different school if not accepted to one or the other. Thanks.
Is there a chance for these holding application got accepted in school?
ReplyDeleteEverybody just chill... I'm sure they'll let you know why the applications were held.
ReplyDeletei think some of us who will not have our decisions until early next had some problems with our requirements. let's say a missing transcript.but i do not quite sure about the holding pattern mentioned. what is that??!!!
ReplyDeleteWhoever said chill needs to be a little more sensitive. Some of us are running out of time to let the schools we were accepted to know if we accept their offer. And, it's not necessarily missing transcripts. I double dotted my i's crossed my t's. I have all my transcripts in, all my financial aid documents in, etc. And they were all postmarked on time. This is probably something to do with the individual schools. That's not to say I haven't wondered the same...what was wrong with my application to not even get a clear rejection or waitlist decision yet.
ReplyDeleteIf you have another deadline to meet, then you should protect yourself by accepting the best admission offer you have received to date.
ReplyDeleteI think it is perfectly acceptable to change your mind if you are ultimately accepted to UVA, the only thing you risk losing is your deposit, which is a relatively small price to pay to ensure you have a viable option in hand in case the UVA decision does not go your way.
I am sure UVA admissions staff are doing everything in their power to get all admissions decisions finalized as quickly as humanly possible.
In general, stressing out over things that are not in your control is not a very useful endeavor.
The suggestion to "Chill", while perhaps a bit insensitive, is actually pretty good advice....patience is truly a virtue.
I'm a little concerned by the line "sending the transcript is essential," as I I won't have access to my second semester transcript until very late in May (my exams end the 19th and grades aren't due to be completed until several days after that). What is the timeline for wait-list consideration? I was under the impression that around the 15th was when the reconsideration started happening, but is there any more information about this? My plan now is to update the school - via letter - of what I've been up to this semester and where my grades are now, but will that be enough to be taken seriously as really wanting to end up accepted?
ReplyDeleteoops...nevermind, I just read the last post. Can you tell I'm a bit anxious?
ReplyDeleteTransfermer,
ReplyDeleteWhere should we send our transcripts if we were offered admission? Thanks!
What are the admissions officer's academic backgrounds?
ReplyDeleteIs there a way of knowing if my deposit was received before the deadline? I sent mine in about a week ago, and I'm slightly worried about hearing something before May 12.
ReplyDeleteMay 8th pm anonymous, the deadline is a postmark deadline of May 12. If you sent it prior to May 8th, it should be here by now. Everyone will recieve pertinent information from Orientation within the next two weeks.
ReplyDeleteI just read on the other blog that the college of arts and sciences is full. Does this mean as a transfer wait listed to this school we have no chance?
ReplyDeleteNo chance...
ReplyDeleteYou're better off to WMU.
