Last call to apply for spring semester
Well, not quite, but as you can tell, November 1 is this week! Remember that in order to have a complete application, you will also need to send your SAT or ACT scores, high school and college transcripts as soon as possible. We will notify applicants of their decisions around December 1.

Application Deadline for Spring is fast approaching
If you are planning to apply for the Spring semester, the deadline is coming soon. It's November 1! Remember that the process is very competitive and not all of the programs are available for entrance in the spring. If you are interested in the College of Arts and Sciences, Architectural History or the Nursing school, you may apply for the spring semester. Keep in mind that we receive about 250 applications and admit anywhere from 30-50 people at this time.

Questions about the Essay Topics
If you are applying for the spring semester, you have completed or are probably close to completing your application (wink wink). Yes, let's hope so. Well, some of you answered a question in the transfer supplement a week ago or earlier and may find that it no longer exists. There was a glich in the system that was only allowing the Spring 07 supplement to be visible. We just discovered this last week, and then changed it to Spring 08. Consequently, an essay or two disappeared. If you have already written an essay from the "old" application, don't worry. We will honor this submission and you will not have to write a new essay. We apologize for the confusion. Good luck on your application!

Should I take the SAT or the ACT? What about the TOEFL?
We in the admission office just bid farewell to today's open house visitors. We saw a great group. Let me emphasize that if you couldn't make it, you may visit and/or come to classes at any time. Just check our website for more details.
We covered lots of information and testing is always an important question. Here are some guidelines.
-We do require transfer applicants to take the SAT or the ACT.
-If your native language is not English, you make take the TOEFL in place of the SAT/ACT.
-However, if you have been out of high school for more than five years, we tend to waive the testing requirement.
- If you are a VCCS student and plan on transferring under the guaranteed agreement, you must have a complete application to be eligible. A complete application includes testing. No matter when you graduated from high school, you must take the SAT or ACT, and if your native language is not English, you may take the TOEFL instead.
For transfers, while they are required, test scores play a minor role in the application process. We are looking more at your courses and grades(college and hs). It's important to keep this in mind when considering UVA.
